I've ridden luggageless for almost 40 years and today ended up with my first slap in the face. The strom luggage rack just isn't built to use hooks on bulkie ( i.e. wider and longer than the seat) items. Six years I've had the bike, made two cross country trips, and probably went camping at least 50 times. A modification is something to look at on those days this winter when I don't want to risk the ride!
Fortunately when I got stopped doing 72 in a 50 zone I wasn't asked what was in the box on the back of my bike, and was just given a verbal warning! |

What has speeding got to do with bungee straps?
I used to go cross country with my guitar wrapped in trash bags and extending a bit over each side of the bike. I used stout nylon straps that wouldn't give like a bungee. I never got pulled over for speeding or an odd load on the bike. Bungees are really sucky devices for securing a load. Might be good to keep the lid of your over filled trunk down but that's about it. |
