Default Need Your Feedback-Rental Cabin Questions

We have a few houses near Brevard, NC that we are considering converting to vacation rentals. They are close to many vacation destinations such as Pisgah National Forest, Gorges State Park, Dupont State Forest, Whitewater Falls, Highlands, NC, The Blue Ridge Parkway and just centrally located to some of the best riding in the country. What type of accommodations would you look for in a motorcycle destination? Would you prefer rural, off the beaten path, or in town? Your ideas and feedback would be appreciated!

1. Laundry - Who wants to hang out at the laundromat on vacation?
2. Bike Storage-Carport/Garage - It's nice to be able to keep the bike out of the weather, space to park the trailer, too.
3. In The Woods - when we vacationed here from Florida, we sought seclusion, if you want to attract the cruiser crowd make sure there's no gravel
4. Views - See #3
5. Cable/Internet - Facebook needs to know how you spend your vacation.
6. 2-3 Bedroom
7. In Town
8. 4+ Bedrooms

I'll sleep on gravel under a picnic table if there are good roads nearby... but yeah, I'd say I agree with Nromin on all points. Internet access is a must for me and many others.

Laundry is often overlooked, but very, very nice to have. If possible, I always make a point to wash all my raunchy duds the night before I leave for home. Keeps the Givis a bit fresher.

V-Strom riders are, um, different, but most motorcyclists will studiously avoid gravel driveways, and want inside parking for their bikes, or at least covered.

One detail I've noticed in other moto-friendly places is that you'll need to provide a supply of cleaning rags for the chrome barge crowd, or they'll hijack your nice towels no matter how many nasty little signs you put up. A place to wash said chrome barges along with a hose and a bucket, is also highly appreciated.

From the landlord and neighbor's perspective, 4+ bedrooms can be problematic, since the evening activities tend to get a bit rowdier with more people.

Also, my wife and I will go far out of our way and pay a good bit extra for a place with a hot tub or Jacuzzi.

Default Laundry

It kind of depends; you are in more of a biker "destination" area, but in many cases, riders just want clean, comfortable, convenient and if possible, cheap. The vacation is out on the road, not in the cabin, so while the surroundings are important, I'd rate the amenities highest for riders. If I've been riding in the mountains all day, I won't care if I am in the trees at night so much. Laundry and food would be higher on the list.

Thank you all! I depend on your feedback and ideas...I can cover most all requests, but the houses are on a dirt road. Although, they are only 500 feet from the paved main road. These are two houses side by side with a shared drive. So a party could book both houses with room for 8 in one house and 6 in the other. Credit cards will be required, so big rowdy parties will be charged for cleanup of underwear in the trees and beer cans in the gutters. Keep the ideas coming!

First nomenclature

A house is a house bedrooms, bathrooms etc.
A cottage is like an independent efficiency apartment maybe 1 bedroom and a pull out couch for the kids
A Cabin is a solid tent usually without anything but some time electric and an outside spigot.

Un less you can walk to the recreation I don't get it.*

My cabin in Cayuga State Park in NY on the big lake, dock, swimming pool etc was $280 for the week

I am also sure that like once a year it will be trashed or made so filthy the next group will need a pressure washer.

* exception for skiing can be 10 miles from mountain

The most important thing is the manager who takes care of the place 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and gets it scrupulously clean no matter how bad the previous renters puked the place up.

For us, a quiet, clean, comfortable place is most important. If appropriate, easy access to town, cafes, etc. is important.

Since you would be arriving by bike and have limited trunk space for groceries, would a grocery service be attractive to you? Another words, you tell us what you would like to have for your weekend and we do the shopping and load the fridge and cabinets so it's there when you arrive. Of course a fee would have to be charged plus the cost of the groceries. What would you be willing to pay? Anything not used and still un-opened would be donated to a local charity.
