We should be good. Greywolf you have my direct contact info in a PM, if anything goes pear shaped over the weekend shoot me a text or an email. I will also be on to check in from time to time over the weekend as well. The change was made early this morning and so far there are no hiccups noticed, knock on wood.

Verticalscope took over my other favorite website a few years ago; www.motorcycle.com. A lot of the "old guard" didn't like the new format. The new owners made it much more "professional." I had only recently joined before the change, so it didn't bother me as much.

The number of ads went way up, as you might expect. The Moderators were asked to show some restraint in the political and personal posts; some went away mad over it. They've brought in some professional "moto-journos" and photographers who provide material very comparable to what you'd find in Cycle World, Motorcyclist, or the like. So it's been a good change...better content is worth banner ads and pop-ups for the most part.

Hopefully Greywolf will get funded. His priceless advice and support is worth...well, it's priceless.

I'm afraid that requiring payment to access information on our bike, which is posted by the bike owners BTW, has quite the opposite effect on me. I could never support such an act with a $$ "donation", much less pay a "due" for it.
Same

Interesting read:

Just remember VS are here to make money, nothing more, nothing less.

Time will tell whether this is good or bad for the forum and community.

It is an interesting read particularly if you read on from the one angry rant at the beginning and see there is a lot more there. The thread was posted years ago and is still brought up even though things have changed a lot since those days. This thread is all before my time with VS and the intention here is to grow this community with the help of the staff and the members.

Make Shep supply his photos again! So many great wrenching threads are wasting away without them.

Thanks Brendan! I do enjoy this site, in fact it is the main site I visit because of the great stories and friendships built up through discussions and rides. So I guess I'm agreeing with most of the posts I've read that I'd very much like to see the site stay as is with a few tweaks to certain areas, main issue - searches!
Welcome Phil!

This site has been extremely beneficial and enjoyable for me for the last 4 years. Appreciate all the hard work that has gone into it and tried to support it with my "dues", donations or whatever else you wish to call it. i cannot obtain such a wide amount of information anywhere else, tempered with people's real life experiences and even the mere storage and easy retrieval has to be supported. Best money I've spent in a long time. No real gripes - I use external search most of time and actually enjoy prowling around the key areas I'm interested in - maintenance, videos, and DL 650. As for the rants and arguments about politics, religion and whatever - I just tune them out although can't really say they're much a problem. Most people here are helpful and courteous. If they weren't, wouldnt' be here.

Thanks,
Bob

I saved them all before he took the football and ran home. I even posted a link to where I saved all of his walkthroughs (with pictures).
