Question I'm in?

I had the opportunity to get a little off road time in with Big John (MTNAdventurerider)up out of Ouray, CO. I had a great time and I'm now convinced that the Vee will do anything I want it to if I've go the balls. Here are a couple of pics. To see more pics check out the events section: http://www.stromtrooper.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=33514

All right, me and the picture upload are having a disagreement at the moment so check out the events link.

Mike

Default So...uh...

I don't really have any pictures of me on the bike doing offroad, but I have some pictures from a ride yesterday.

A group of inmates from ADV, including myself, rode the "Quilcene to Lake Cushman" ride from Sound Rider. There was a group of about six, but only two made it the whole way to the lake. I was the first to go, I had the biggest/heaviest bike (next closest was an 08 KLR), had the worst tires, and am a noob when it comes to offroad.

Anyway, here is the evidence:

Our first stop of the ride, at a "scenic viewpoint".

Not quite that scenic...

Everybody stopping, up off Buck Mountain Rd...

Which had slightly better views.

I know I know I owe people numbers. Anyone want to take over handing out numbers? I'm just swamped.

Technically, it was a road I suppose.

Maybe a bit tame compared to some on here, but here goes.

See the wee bunnies?

Aye, panicked and grabbed a handful of front brake, followed by a mouthful of sand

Nothing like a nice cuppa coffee in the woods with the wife (oooh, 2 up offroading, do I win a prize?

Lake district ride out with varaderos/bm's (spot my Stromtrooper sticker)

happy or what

During the weekend of April 23rd the year round riders had their annual east coast get together. We met in Mingo, WV.
I told the GPS were I wanted to end up and just let it point the way.
When It told me to make a left here I had to think about it for a moment.

But I went for it and hoped for the best.

I was only a little nervous with no cell phone coverage. But I came up on a dust cloud that let me know that at least I wasn't alone.

Patches of large diameter gravel kept my speed down

I didn't get any stills of it, but I made my first ever water crossing with the Wee on this road.

V-Strom - $8k???
Crash bars & skid plate - $350???
Not being afraid to take the short cut over the mountain - Priceless

Well...I've had my Vee off-road quite regularly in the three years I've owned her....given that my driveway is "off-road" as are my front, back, and side yards. Other than those exceptions, I am an avowed asphalt-weenie and my Vee is my road-bike of choice.

Gray can flat ride....I can attest to that. I witnessed him throwing a DL1000 around at elevations over 12k feet.
