Day 4- After packing up we rode to Monument and Spray. Then gas and breakfast at the latter. Jim and Brenden headed out first, but it was noticed that Brendens tire was very low. We ran him down and found a pull off for the repair. 2 holes were discovered and plugged.
Scene at the first repair.

Back on the road again for 30-40 miles and another flat. One of the plugs had failed. Repaired that and then did a soapy water test. Found 2 more holes an inch above the others for a total of 4.
site of 2nd flat

By now Brenden is getting leery of adding any extra miles and decides to head home. I follow him as far as Yakima in case he needs help.
On the way up from Biggs we see a lot of activity on the Maryhill grade and stop to find out what's doin. Longboard and luge races are going on.
2 shots of the Luge race.

Once again, thanks to Howard and everyone for a great weekend.

Don

The latest Rider magazine that I just got did a writeup on some of the roads we covered. They based the ride out of Unity. In it they call the section over Dooley Summit "Little Dragon". Their loop was only 120 miles, so they only got a taste of whats out there.

Hey Matt, thats the road I was talking about that is closed to the public. You have to rent it or go to the Rally at the Gorge and its open only to registered rally goers. Proof of insurance required. Saturday from 1-4 p.m. only.
Its a small window. Don tells me that you might have to wait in an hour long line to ride it. If its over 85 degrees out, I'll pass.

I am opting out of a Hawaii trip my wife and daughter are going on, so I will have a loooong weekend to go for a loooong ride!!! It will be the weekend of the 16th of Sept. FOr me, there are no other options, it has to be this weekend.

Oh, will the STrom guys let a Tenere Owner in for a ride?

I can see why people wait to ride on it. It looks like fun. A guy could get rid of that chicken strip on that road.
