Motorcycle Salvage yards?

Anyone know of a good place for motorcycle salvage parts? I am trying to find out if some parts are better sourced myself instead of going through insurance which will increase my rates. For cars it is easy, I go to www.car-part.com and just search salvage yards. I am looking for a few bits that got bent when my bike slid into a curb after a 15mph lowside...stupid oil.

Thanks.

RB, I have bought a lot of used parts over the years from Cycle Therapy in N. Akron Ohio.

http://www.cycletherapy.com/

They know their inventory well and can usually tell you immediately if they have what you want or not.

Good luck!

Salvage Yards

Red Bean,
Yesterday when i first looked, i searched Google for motorcycle salvage yards. I then simply called Tri County as one of the listings, where he gave me another place to call. The place i called is Johnson & Wood near Beverly Hills. He is the guy that placed the nationwide search to all the salvage yards around the country. Johnson & Woods # is 818 508 5227.

By the way, I would never use these guys again. They sent me the wrong part, so I shipped it back (at my cost of course). They acknowledged receiving the part back at the yard in Georgia, Alan from J&W (the owner) says they finally got paid back the $175 from the yard in GA and that he would refund me the money. Well guess what...I am still short $175. He keeps telling me he is going to refund the money to my card, but it has not gone through. This transaction occurred January 22, 2009. Now nearly 6 months later I still don't have my money. :toetap05:

Guess I am just out $175. I think I will call them yet again. for the millionth time.

Thanks for the help guys. I saw the swingarm on eBay, but the 07 was the first year they changed the swingarm to make it longer and it is now black too (no big deal it could be painted...). Different geometry makes me want to stay with an 07-09 swingarm.

Yeah rear swingarm, and the subframe bar that the passenger pegs mount to are what I need. Left side only (passenger pegs and rear subframe piece). Those are the parts that hit the curb. My givi mounts are toast too, but I will deal with that later.

No pictures yet. All I have with me is my cell phone which I suppose can take pictures, although I haven't tried yet with this new phone. Perhaps I'll grab a pic of the swingarm and other bits tonight. Thanks for the offer of the truck...I'll have to see what they say at the dealership tonight.

It's at Eastside Motorsports. Don't steal my bike!!! They have been storing it inside for me since it arrived on Saturday, so unless they moved it outside during the work day (which they probably do), you won't get to see much.

swingarm pricing

RedBean,

Even if you can't find an 07 arm, there are those Suzuki parts places that sell way below discount for OEM parts if you can use this as leverage to not get the retail lashing Dealers do!!! I just called a dlr and they can sell it to me for $726.

Also, if you are not inclined yourself to work on your own bike, i would be willing to assist you. I have lots of time on hands, and am unemployed recently. Just my thoughts!! I just don't have a room in my garage to work on it, so if you would like the help, please let me know.

swing arm found

red Bean,
I just called Johnson Woods in Cali...they found an 07 arm for $175. It is in Georgia. Would you like to call them directly? I posted their number earlier in this thread.
Hope this helps.

dude I don't know why I didn't think of the before. I've got an 07 650 frame and swing arm sitting in my garage. It belongs to superstrom, but I'm sure he'd want to sell it if you are interested. send him a pm or email about it. once he gives me the OK you can come up and get it.

What the deuce?!! Damnit. I just ordered the $175 one from that junkyard this afternoon. I suppose I could cancel it. Any idea how much for that one? I'll find superstrom on here and ask him as well.

Thanks.

Oh and hoebster, thanks for the tip on the junkyard. They are looking for the rear subrfame bar too (seat support) that the rear footpegs mount to as it was a bit twisted.

I learned a valuable lesson today. Lie to your insurance company at all costs. Even though they paid out NOTHING for the "claim", they are marking my permanent driving record with an at fault accident because I told them about it. Even if I leave the company for another insurance company, when they check my driving record this will be on there. In the future I will be sure to lie my ass off and never talk to my insurance company since they are not there to help, just put one up my a$$. Sorry had to vent this. If you have Sentry/Dairyland, I suggest you drop them immediately before you need to talk to your agent.

I'll be sure to remember that. Sadly I will have to stick with Dairyland for now. All other carriers will charge me 3 times as much as they do.

Sorry to hear they stuck it too you. Don't know why you're at fault though. It's the stupid city's for putting that malicious curb there. It jumped out of nowhere and mangled your bike! I still say they should pay for the damage done and have the at-fault put on their record.

yeah. Feels like if I am going to get my rates raised just because I mentioned it to them, I should have them cut me a check. jerks. Oh well. Apparently it isn't just Dairyland. We shall see how it works out when I get next year's rates in June.

Indeed, all of them do it. My son took my wifes Sorento and powerslid it into a fence last winter. First they (Safeco) increased the premiums on the boat coverage, then they slightly increased the car coverage a couple months later. They even said the accident was "minor" and shouldnt increase our rates. Yeah... whatever. I guess they figure I won't "feel it" as much if they spread it around a little. Jackasses.
BTW, sorry to hear about your rendevous with the curb Redbean. That sucks. I just read through the threads, and that's pretty cool all you guys offering to help. What a great group this is. Never ceases to amaze me. One of the guys at work was kind of making fun of the message board yesterday (we pick on each other relentlessly). But this is what it's all about man... very, very cool:var_39:. Besides... he's just jealous because he rides a Goldwing:mrgreen:.
Good luck getting her up and running. I would love to help... my Dad is a TV repairman... he's got an AWESOME set of tools:rolleyes:
Sadly my truck is now dead, and I'm riding the Polar wee Express until I can get the Alternator changed out. 16 degrees with a windchill this morning... holy crap it was cold!

Looks like I am bringing the bike home...if someone can help me out with a truck. I will ask Dave at Eastside Motorsports if he can bring it home for me (he offered), otherwise, I may need some help. I need to get it from Bellevue to my apartment in Bothell (about 15 miles). PM me if you can help.

Thanks

I don't have a truck, only a Honda Fit...though Im sure the bike could fit in the back. Haven't found anything that hasn't yet.

Maybe the next meet & greet can be at your place to do repairs. I'm not much of a mechanic, but I can bring the beer.
