Hi Everyone,

Just recently moved here to Chantilly, VA and I have a 2005 V-Strom 650.

Hoping to find some V-Strom friends in the area to maybe do some rides. So far, I've been out on 50 past Aldie, Middleburg and Upperville. Taken 55 out to Front Royal, 340 down to Luray and over on 211 back and forth. This past weekend, just did about 300 miles taking 33 out to West Virginia. Such great riding in this area!

Thinking about swapping out my knobs for some street tires since I never get out on the dirt with it. Sure would be nice for some smoother rides. Also looking to get a new Sargent seat.

Please drop me a line if you are interested in any early Saturday morning rides out west. Lots of roads to cover!

Welcome, about once a year or so some folks here organize a group ride but it feels like it's been forever since the last one.

Snickersville turnpike is one quick easy trip out west for you up to Rt 7 from 50, just avoid the last turn, it's a DOOZY... (google map to see for yourself)

hi john!, welcome to nova. it can be a bit hairy with traffic so make sure to look out for the nut job drivers here!

33 is a great ride, luray as well!

i agree with the last poster, snickersville turn pike is a fun hilly, twisty road with lots of rock walls and farm land that will lead you towards Winchester, aldie area. there's a few roads in clifton va you may like as well that provide lots of twist and turns but its turned into a little tourist town the last couple of years thanks to a local winery bringing all the DC drunks down our way haha. i live in clifton, check out hampton road. another fun road is out towards 95 called joplin road near quantico, i use it to bypass lots of traffic but it has about 10 miles of no lights or stop signs and most people zip along at 55 mph its

where did you move from?

Hi ukele6 - My family and I moved here from St. Louis for a job transfer. Even though we are in Nats/Orioles territory, we are still Cardinals fans! lol (Except for my wife. She's a Cubs fan.)

I've been riding down near the Quantico area too. My older brother lives down in Woodbridge and rides a ZRX 1100 Eddie Lawson, so he has shown me a lot of the twisties around here. I think I've been on Snickersville turnpike, but I'm not sure. All the names are starting to blur together. lol

Getting my new Sargent seat today and hopefully will get my new street tires in the next week or two. Once I get those things in place I hope the long rides won't take as big of a toll on me. 300 miles isn't easy, but I doing it on the stock seat with nobbies made it even harder.

Really looking forward to doing more rides around here, meeting new people and hitting new roads. Seems like most of the folks out in the smaller towns have a good respect and relationship with the motorcyclists. I've not really run into many jerks along the way.

Hi folks-

Nice to see so may troopers in the area, I'm fairly new to riding and just got a 2014 DL650 and was only able to put around 500 miles so far on it, mostly commute into town. Look forward to riding with other troopers and checking out new routes and thanks for all the suggestions they all sound great.

Gentlemen,

Might I suggest a couple gatherings you may want to attend? NEVA 17 is in the Poconos the first weekend in August this year and should be a blast. See the link below for details.

Very close to home, you'll also find the Romney Cycles 6th Annual Camp and Ride the first weekend in May. This will hopefully be my first year to attend, but I hear very good things.

Spring 2017 - Romney, West Virginia - May 5 - May 7, 2017 | Adventure Rider

Hope to meet y'all at one of these events.

Hi Foks -
I just joined recently and also looking for fellow riders in the NOVA area. I got my 2014 Vstrom1000 in October, and now that the weather is turning nice, looking for excuses to take it out on longer treks.
Let me know if you're in the Alexandria/Arlington/Fairfax area and want to meet up on a weekend for a half-day (or longer) ride!

Can't believe there's not mention of Rt. 601 between 7 and 50 starting in Bluemount. That's my quick go to since I'm 10 minutes away from it.

Let me know if you're out this way and would like a tour. Also, if you know anyone looking for a nice 2012 1000 I need some space in the garge to make room for my new steed. Had to upgrade to something more comfortable for my girlfriend.
