Fall's definitely on the way out and Sandy will probably get rid of any remaining leaves over the next day or two, so it was nice to squeak in a ride before the strom.

So many great dirt roads west of Quabbin and Sunderland!

Can't really trust the street signs though. This road was perfectly fine.

The plan was to go from Hawley up into VT but the high country got really socked in by mist and drizzle, so I cut things short. This will give me an excuse to go back soon!

I kept looking wistfully down my street to see if the wet leaves were peeling up yet and blowing away...while I cleaned up downed branches, sawed downed limbs and determined what stock I'll need to put blown-down sections of our fence back up. Un-f'ing-fortunately, the only engine I got to listen to today was that of my chainsaw.

I'm praying that it isn't "too rainy" tomorrow.

We cancelled our planned trip to Long Island (via the New London ferry). Poor folk are still devastated by Sandy.

So we ended up spending a couple days riding the Cape. It's beautiful off-season and we had many of the back roads and beaches to ourselves.

The road through the National Seashore was still full of color.

The only other creatures on the beach were birds.

And some of the dirt roads ended up being pretty challenging (because of the sand).

Looks like it's going to be a nice weekend. I'm going to try and go over Mt Riga from CT into Mass on Saturday and fins some new dirt roads along the way.

Have fun and take some pics to share!

Have you ridden from Mt. Riga up into MA through the Mt. Washington area? There's a 10-mile dirt road from CT into MA through the park that is awesome. Very remote. I think it's called Mt. Washington Rd. in CT. I could've swown I heard banjo music!
