Taking Thursday for earth day to do some volunteer work though. Thinking about riding to/from the event.

richw mentions "Green River Road" and I could've sworn YOU posted a picture of it somewhere in here that showed a gravelish track directly alongside a rushing "Green(?)" river. Where is it? In Greenfield? Williamstown?

A coupla weekends ago, I zoomed around southwestern NH with three other guys (two on FJRs and one multistrada) who couldn't keep up with me on dirt roads...not that I go that fast...and then last weekend my 'strada riding buddy talked me into joining a group ride up to Putney, VT, that turned out to be a Duc New England RTE. Nice buncha guys but not that interested in dirt and gravel roads.

I mistakenly posted my short ride report into an unrelated thread. The Green River is northwest of Greenfield. Here's the post:

My pillion and I had another great MA adventure working our way from southern NH down through Northfield into Greenfield. There are some awesome dirt roads just west of Greenfield heading into VT.

Here's a map (we headed counter-clockwise):



Here's one of the buff dirt roads that runs for miles up the Green River. Looks like they did a lot of work on it since last year's flood:



One the way home we went up "Mountain Road" (always good to take roads that have names that include "mountain") up to the top of Skinner State Forest. We followed what turned out to be a Meet Up group of Harley riders. One of them actually dumped their bke while make a slow speed turn at the top. They were a friendly bunch though.



Oh, one of them had a very cute companion.

I am thinking of taking a day-ride this Saturday. Was thinking western MA. Haven't done jack for planning yet.

Anybody got a nice route plan or GPS track I could mooch off?!?

Thanks, Bro'!!! That's the picture I saw! Excellent! No long-distance riding this weekend: gardens and cookouts beckon. But the NEXT few weekends? Oh yeah! Got me a Garmin and three new DeLorme atlases and I'm gonna do some explorin'. YIPPEE!
