Default There Are TOO Many!!! (V-Stroms)

Yesterday, I drove my minivan from Mount Desert Island to Beverly, MA to leave with my daughter so that she had a vehicle for work during her summer break between her sophomore and junior year in college.

On the way down, I passed 3 Stroms headed North.

On the bus ride home today, I passed two Stroms headed South. One of them was one of the ones I saw yesterday; black with sharkteeth decal. The rider had a yellow helmet and what looked like Suzuki luggage or maybe Givi.

Also today, I saw 6 BMW Adventure bikes and only a few Harley cruisers. Usually the "scale" is tipped the other way; only seeing one or two adventure bikes and a bunch of Harleys.

Anyway, I feel just a little bit "crowded" with what I saw. I'm thinking that I am going to take up Base Jumping.

Does anyone want to buy a well maintained, well kept, low mileage DL-650? I need the money to purchase my wingsuit.

I bet you're one of those guys whose favorite band suddenly sucks as soon as they become popular, huh?

Come out to my part of the world. You won't see another one within 70 miles of mine. They don't seem very popular around here.

Spend some time around SW Michigan, then - I have yet to see another V-Strom around here, and the nearest member on this forum is about 90 miles away. There seem to be far more in northern Michigan or southern/central Indiana, but locally, just mine, from what I have seen.

It was just a weird day. Whenever I ride, I rarely ever see another Strom. To see four, all riding separately, (I saw one twice to make it 5), in a span of 24 hrs was a little startling.

Oh no, I would never say the Strom sucks! I am one the bike's biggest fans. I try to steer folks towards its consideration for purchase.

The bike has proven itself to me over and over and over again. I am a loyal "groupie".

(PS: Delivering my minivan to my daughter for her to use for the summer means, my DL-650 is the ONLY vehicle that I have access to. Anywhere I go, anything I do, it's on the bike. This is the 3rd summer I have done this.)

Off topic. Is there a big old white rooming house near the end of the main drag in downtown Bar Harbor yet? Was called Adele's Cottage years ago. Adele was crazy as a loon. Thought the Trilateral Commission was running a fog machine in the harbor to hide their nefarious activities.

Can you give me a more specific location and date? I have been here 25 years. Maybe I don't fall within the time period you are thinking about?

1972. It was right off of Main Street near the water, along one of those little lanes. Near Testa's Restaurant. I worked at Lymburner Electric which was in an old building on Mt. Desert Street (I think). Been a long time. I suppose that whole area became so high priced the old "cottage" was torn down. It was a big three story home, old enough to have had electrical wiring installed that ran on insulators exposed on the ceilings (older than knob and tube - the house predated electrical wiring).

I see there is a Lymburner Real Estate at 23 High Street. I worked for Larry Lymburner. Don't know if the guy in this Google listing is him or not. Class of 1951 - too young I think. Larry was an older man in 1972.
