Fuel headache with my new Wee

Really not how i want to make my first thread on the forum but here it goes.

Got my wee couple month ago from this fella who got it from the auction, bike has been sitting since 2013 so i did what i always do with bike that has been sitting for a while. I took all the old gas out, cleaned out the tank, and put new gas in it with injector cleaner and the bike ran okay after that. once a while the bike would hesitate and stall so i read up on the forum and did the External Fuel filter Mod and by passed the high pressure filter, put in a new high pressure fuel filter and FI lines and all is well untill yesterday.

The bike died on me mid ride, it went from the perfect bike to a nightmare, i can still get the bike to start but it would run very rough and stall. im kind of running out of options here, checked the TPS and it shows normal in dealer mode.

one thing i did notice is that when i disconnect the fuel hose, normally the fuel would stop flowing on all my other bikes but on this vstrom it would keep flowing till the tank is empty.

What do you guy think? a bad fuel pump? bad fuel pressure regulator? bad TPS? bad injector?
i miss riding already and its only been 2 days :frown2::crying2:

Fuel running from the tank with the pump off has been linked to a pump part coming loose. The white plastic part in this picture is a prime offender with some people wiring it in place.

will do, it did came off when i was trying to take the pump out of the tank when i did my external fuel filter mod.

Did you test the fuel pump output/flow rate? There are a few threads here on how to do it and what the proper flow rate should be. And no, it's not supposed to leak when disconnected, that means the fitting is bad or broken.
rate is good over 1000ml in 30 secs, maybe i need to replace the o rings in the pump.

TPS testing is unreliable. Contact can be intermittent but test okay.

Problem solved here is what happened, so when the bike first display the symptoms it was caused by the blocked high pressure filters, and when i did the filter bypass mod, the white plastic retainer holding the fuel pressure regulator would get dislodged, i made sure it stay on when i finally got back into the tank but ultimately the vibration and the pressure would pop off the retainer, and shake out the regulator causing all my problems. so greywolf was right on the money on what happened with my bike and i did wire the retainer in at the end and bike is perfect again. Thanks guys another problem solved/
