I just lift it by the skidplate I purchased from Enduro Guardian using that same cheap harbor freight lift you have, works great.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! I saw a similar idea in a product that uses that hole in the front of the engine - it seems a bit weak in that area I'm assuming its a pretty strong bolt grade. Do you have a closer pic of how your adapter fits on the bike?

The front of the adapter bolts to the case with a through bolt. There is no attachment at the rear. The bike just rests on the upright. You can see that in the other picture.

I purchased a bash plate that works with my bike lift, also one bolt removal to tilt bash plate when changing oil. I forgot who made it, but he said due to lack of interest he stopped producing them. Have used it for lift two times. Works well.
