Note! This is NOT meant in any way to bash any of the bikes. I'm trying to make a buying decision here.
Also, note that the SECOND "Nope, nothing but oil changes" was meant for the WEE!!! IF, the poll question does not suit you, just make a comment in the thread. Guys, I'm looking at at Vee 1000 but I've had quite a few people telling me to go with the 650 instead because it's more reliable and what not. So, to make this simple and to get some kind of idea, I'm posting a poll. Please I would like to get as MANY as possible doing this so I can see what kind of percentages I get. Please also post underneath if you'd like, how you voted and why. Ie, more details. Also, the history of your bike. How many miles it had when you bought it, how many miles you put on it and if you know, who you bought it from? Ie, old dude, some crazy dirt bike rider... Thanks George Last edited by guiri; 12-19-2012 at 11:23 AM. |

Guys this poll SUCKS, I love my 06 Vee with 55000mi. . All Stock, Nothing
but tyres chains & sprokets& K & N air filter, I figured if I was going to to change it, it ought to be the best. I'm so glad I bought my Vee before I joined this Forum. Or I might not have bought it. Does anybody like their Vee besides me? |

Let's bash the VEE.
Perhaps this post should be moved to the WEE forum... |

New tires (Scorpion Trails), fork height returned to stock, rear suspension tweaked, a PCV and a fork brace.
In the space of 20 minutes the bike went from "meh, it's cheap so what can I expect" to "bugger me, where was this bike hiding?" I no longer feel I need to buy a Multistrada. This is now all the bike I could ever need. Seriously, if you're not happy with your bike, it CAN be fixed for not a lot of money/time.

Only failure I've had is the connector for the lights. Well, battery, but that's a normal maintenance issue.

When you say "damage" do you mean "defect" or "failure?" I'm really not trying to nit-pick, but to me damage is something that happens when you hit a tree.
BTW: the possibility of a defect or failure is the last reason I'd use to pick a Vee over a Gee/Wee or vice-versa. They're very different bikes that give very different rides.

My K2 Vee is Still Kicking like a champ. Sure, I've spent a good penny on her. However, its due to me obsession with fixing her up and I do like to spoil my girl's. All in all I can say that this bike is/has been ten fold better that my prior bikes. Reliability wise it put it above my last bike, the beemer. If reliabaility isn't enough- be glad you're not spending $400.00 on a starter- just for the part.

I've had less issues with my V-Strom than I did with my Honda VTX1300. I had almost no problems with the VTX.... Only odd ball issue is the front sprocket cover cracked. Since the speedo sensor is there I lost speedo. I think I caused that by lack of good chain maintenance..
