Just wondering if anybody has tried to order a pilot road 3 front tire, I've tried my usual on-line sites and they all indicate they are on back order with one exception Soutwest Moto with a ridiculous price of $240.
With 14,500 KM on the 2012 dl650 original tires, I need to get some new rubber, the front is terribly scalloped, a condition I have seen before with the trail wings but found the p3 to wear much better. |

Mine came in yesterday. I ordered it through a local dealer mid October.

Please note that there are 2 versions of the Pilot Road 3 rear tire - the normal PR3 and a Trail version for bikes like the Strom.

The front is only available for vstrom in the Trail version I believe. In the back there is a choice. I went with the Trail in the rear as well though.
From the compound diagrams, I don't see a difference between the front Trail version and non Trail version though the speed ratings are different. Last edited by M02012Rider; 12-06-2012 at 04:20 PM. |

Don't know anything about the trail versions but I had trouble as well finding the front tire. Finally found both at the Motorcycle Superstore:

Motorcycle super store's web page for the front tire has a note at the bottom saying that the 110/80R-19 is the trail.

I had no idea a trail version for the pilot road existed, now to find one.

They're a big seller, apparently -- just sign up to get notified when they're available and wait a few weeks.
On the upside, you're probably not going to get one that's been sitting in a dusty warehouse for two years!
