I am looking for a panel mount plug so I can power up my Gerbings heated gear, I notice the Gerbing panel mount assembly is a pigtail with a plug on the other end, has anyone found a panel mount type plug that I can wire directly to my fuse panel and still handle the wattage.

It's best to have an inline plug so an accidental or purposeful get off that pulls the plug will cause an inline separation rather than an off line that can break something. I had a panel mount plug on my old bike but it was a positive screw connector with a short lead to the heated gear coax plug. I could take the lead off when not in use. On my new bike, I just have the lead lying in the side cover under the seat. When needed, I run it externally to plug in the gear.

I have the Gerbing electrical cable, a good 15 inches of it, hanging out at the left side cover (I have the dual permanent controller). I just wedge the end connector in that air vent, or whatever it is, between the cowling and fuel tank when not in use. Nice perfect snug fit, though it is marring the paint at that point, which would upset me if the bike was otherwise pristine. I have disconnected myself at least a dozen times by walking away from the bike - with no damage yet to the connectors and just enough of a felt tug as it disconnects to remind me to not be so stupid next time, only to do it yet again. I have decided not to let this lapse affect my relaxed nature (when near my bike anyway) in any way and remain pleased with the set-up.

OK well said. I will just leave the cable lay loose and not go with a panel mount, it is neater but knowing me, i will probably drag the bike with me.
Thanks Chet PS Happy Thanksgiving |

Hi
I know this is a little late for this thread, but I needed to connect my heated jacket and gloves, and after a few tries over the years, I have come to this. It seems to work fine, and the box is fixed to the tank with a small amount of velcro. Obtained the box and connectors off Ebay, and after a few tries made everything fit neatly ![]() Regards Crazyhorse Last edited by crazyhorse; 02-01-2013 at 08:59 AM.
