I use the Harley and Honda trip planner. I find it very easy to import to my garmin gps. Plan your from and too location. Then just drag the red "route" line to where ever you want to detour off the intended route. Like, for instance you don't want I95, you want the turnpike. In gps speak this is a "via".
Then in the upper right hand corner it says GPS synchronization. Click on it and it asks to detect your garmin device automaticly or manually. Attach your garmin to your computer via a USB cable. On my mac is shows up on my desk top. You also need to install the garmin communicator plug in available on their web site.
The .gpx file is down loaded to my gps in the "my data" file. On the gps go to my data and create the route and it shows up in my favorite routes section.
Sounds long but when you mess with it a few time's it's real fast.
Quicker than trying to creating a route on the gps and then put in vias..
Tyre is neat too and I have better luck with the Harley/Honda route planners....
