Just got the 06 Friday and put on the first 200 miles. It has been a long time since I had to break in a seat. My 02 ZREX has 84/85XXX miles on the clock. During the test ride I really enjoyed the bike under 40 mph; above 50 the wind was buffeting me pretty bad. So, when I picked the bike up I removed the touring windscreen and ran it naked. A great improvement.
I am finding that I am taking corners alot smoother than with the ZREX which was point and shoot riding. The one thing that I have figured out is that I need to relearn how to shift into second gear for the strom. By the way, what kind of mileage should I expect to get out of a tank of gas? Here is a picture of the 06

Sweet ride. I avg 42 mpg.
Maybe lookup how to remove those stickers, if you're so inclined.

Congratulations.
Before I bought my '07 Wee at end of January 2012 I did A LOT of reading here - including some of the buffeting discussions. I think my stock windscreen was set in the middle (of 3) positions, and I did notice some buffeting, so I decided to set it at the lowest position and begin to work my way up. However, I discovered that at the lowest setting I really felt no buffeting and it's been there ever since (roughly 7000 miles). I think lower might be better unless a person installs a huge (to me) screen. I do no slab riding and I rarely see 65 mph + (indicated) - spend most of my time at 50-60 mph) and I'm averaging about 56 US mpg - based on the instruments. No side bags but includes a stock Suzuki tail bag. I'm about 6'4" - 300 pounds. I hope you get the mileage from this bike you got from your ZREX. I believe you will if you take care of it. Best of luck. PS - There's tons of discussion on virtually all topics on this site. |

You can get 200-250 out of tank of gas without too much trouble.
Continuous highway speed would get you the lower end of that scale. Under 60 mph on back roads gould stretch it out past 250. Your body may not last that long with stock seat. It's better to not run it down too far for too long as the fuel pump is gasoline-cooled. Enjoy the ride.
