This is exactly what I am doing now. I advertised my '09 Wee-ABS for sale in the "completely assembled, ready to go" condition with >$3000. worth of accessories and could not sell it for $6000. It would have been a perfect bike for someone wanting to go to Alaska or some other similar trip.

My conclusion -- either potential buyers want something for nothing (very possible) or they don't know what it costs to set a bike up for more than day rides and commuting to work (also very possible). The truth probably is somewhere in the middle.

So, I'm in the disassembly/selling off process. Some of the accessories are being used on the new bike. The balance I advertise at 2/3 to 3/4 of the original price, depending on condition, use, etc. Our winters are cold here also, so I have plenty of time.

It ain't about the income. For me those obsolete farkles piling up are a kind of reproach to my normally frugal farm-boy upbringing. They sit there making me feel guilty about excessive indulgence, and my conscience is cleared when they are gone.

And even more so with stock auto parts after doing a build-up.
End up with thousands of dollars worth of brand-new stock suspension & engine parts that serve no purpose to mankind.
