I had a set of these on my DRZ that matched the bike's color and got rid of the factory blinker setup.Worked great and very visable.

Ensure when buying LED strips, they are bright enough to make a difference in daylight - most of them dont- dark pics posted by vendors most of the time are just useless in daytime- especially most ebay crap.
i used LED lights ADR (equivalent to DOT /TUV) certified as emergency strobe lights. One set for white DRL, the other as additional turn signal lights Note additional side blinkers as well

I'm running a set on my Quota. I changed out all the turn signals for LEDS.
My mirrors came from China. The first arrived broken. They sent me a replacement set. The LED mirror were around $30-35 shipped (last year). Look good and work OK Les

The clubs bikes on the TV series Sons of Anarchy had lighted (running and turn signal) rear view mirrors on a episode a week or two back. The lighted mirrors were horizontally slotted I believe and looked really cool. I'm sure their appearance created some Internet buzz that with some searching you might find a source.

I've thought about this, too, but if/when I do it the lights will be mounted on the mirrors rather than handguards. This is a reaction to losing a handguard during a spill. They are pretty flimsy, after all. The mirrors tend to be more durable and they are mounted higher, thus more visible to oncoming traffic.

Well, if you do they can be repaired with ABS cement. Fortunately.
