Oh dear, I'm in trouble now.

I saw this same XJR1300 on eVilBay a couple of days ago.

Today I won the auction and bought it back from the bloke to whom it was sold.

I had better prepare the Strom for sale.

But don't forget your mates on this forum...... we will still welcome you along on rides, or be happy to tag along on rides you are doing if you want company on them.

Hell, I might even come along on the Goldwing... just so you don't feel like "odd man out".

When it is all said and done, keeping both bikes only adds the cost of rego and insurance for the year..... fuel/tyres/servicing will balance out about the same as for one bike based on total kilometres covered.

I'm glad you managed to get it back mate.

Mates? Who are they?
Hey, I rode the XJR on that ride we did out through Rylstone a couple of years back.

Very true but it's still about $1,000 per annum and I'm a retiree on a pension. At least, with both of us being on a pension, I get the Range Rover registered for free and Elisabeth gets her Forester registered for free.

I think I am, too, Steve.

At least there's still a month or so of riding weather left before its too hot to ride during the day.

The seller wants to replace it with not a Victory now but an adventure bike. I suggested the Strom but a mate has told him that they are really a road bike.

He's thinking BMW F800GS or Tenere 660.

If at all possible, I highly recommend getting a scooter (250cc or above) for practicality, and whatever you want for the fun bike. I know letting go of the Strom will be tough, though.

Nah. I'd keep the Strom over getting a scooter (I have owned a couple - the first was 53 years ago).

I picked up the XJR1300 today. Boy, what a difference to the V-Strom! I might need to fiddle with some settings. The front end felt like it wanted to drop into corners when cornering at low speeds in city streets. It felt horrible. I had also better check tyre pressures.

On the motorway it was terrific with far less buffeting than I remembered.

Yeah, well two ain't seven....... [says me who is almost halfway there with three in the shed at present ]

But you are right, if it gets out of hand then the cost is very noticeable as the number of registered bikes owned builds up.
