So today was my day where I had my first stupid drop. I was approaching an uphill intersection ( T intersection) and basically came to a stop uphill and with my wheel turned right with full tank of gas. As you can imagine I slowly dropped it down to the right and got extremely lucky. Only damage was on right hand guard since bars were turned all the way .

I picked it up immediately and then made my turn, pulled over to check out the damage. As I was standing there a guy on a red Vee passed by me. Only something you see of VStrom owners, he pulled around to check and make sure everything was ok ( he didn't see drop only saw me on the side of the road)

So simply put, I've officially joined the club having dropped the wee for the first time but THANK YOU red Vee for being nice enough to stop and check on me. I'll make sure to return the favor!

As you said, you've joined a club, a quite large club. I've done pretty much the same thing 3 times, once on each motorcycle I've ever owned and each time I was stopped in loose sand/gravel over pavement and once the MC was slightly imbalanced, my boot could get almost no traction, so in slow motion, down i went. Once I was waiting to make a left turn across from a beach, the second time I was reaching into my roadside mailbox, and more recently I pulled into a sloping gas station parking lot. Luckily, the only damage done (except to my pride) was a broken brake lever on my Wee. The best part was that instead of letting me know what an idiot I was or freaking out in some other way, my wife who was riding on the back tried to take the blame by saying that she must have caused it by looking and leaning to the side.

I'm liking the 2012 DL650. On the first drop (rolled it off the centerstand while I was working on it) it broke the blinker on my son in law's bike. About time I stopped breaking Vstrom blinkers.

Stromin'Norman great point...no one saw me except when I jumped back on the bike a Jeep made a weird U-Turn and got right up my butt at the intersection. Unless the deer in the woods was judging me, I got away with one!

2009 Wee-Strom

Damn cold rear Trailwing slid out on me in a turn today. It banged the right peg feeler hard, then caught traction again. I've got to take it easier or put new Pilot Roads on early.

Unfortunately, there will be more. 8-(

On my 1st drop, I had the unfortunate situation of having my foot UNDER the motorcycle. I was very glad that I had my riding-boots on. Even with this protection, my foot swelled up the next day and had to use crutches to walk for a week.

You guys are dropping them so I don't have to. You didn't have to do what you did but you did, and I thank you.
