Lonestrom, pay attention to what Arne may be posting in the coming weeks. His approach to the external alternator is unique in that he is leaving the stock charging system in place and fully functional. We have been talking back and forth about his progress. Might be the perfect setup for a hack in that you can easily mount an extra battery and used the external alternator as the source for any and all accessory lighting and farkles. It all depends on how easy you can mount a shaft to the end of the crank and run it thru the engine cover to mount the drive pulley. Everything else is just a matter of ....making it work.

I fixed the charging system on my Vee and it didn't cost me a dime! I traded it straight-up for a '07 FJR. Problem solved
