Default Airhawk vrs Freedom Air

I am looking to modify my seat with an Airhawk. My neighbor is an upolsterer for an RV company and can cut the foam and make me new cover. I was going to get the Airhawk but read that Motorcycle News just gave it a poor rating vrs the Freedom air. Please help. I was going to do a Russell daylong but the truck needs a new injector pump and thats about 1500.00 installed so I know the RDL is the answer but that will have to be later.
Thanks

I have had the foam done, I also have had an Airhawk. Buy an airhawmk m8, you won;t go back once you have set it up correctly. Mine has done over 70,000 kms and without one I would be broken.

Well worth the money but the cheapest way out in the long run.

Cheers

What he is trying to say, and I didn't catch, was "Buy an Airhawk mate..."

After about 3 minutes searching on the i'net for an "Airhawk M8" I discovered that this (m must be the 'text messaging' version of mate...

Never seen anyone with a freedom air. I was introduced to the airhawk when I had a very sore butt and met a guy on a harley with an airhawk in jellystone after a 13 hour ride over from Seattle. He let me try it. It even made my sore butt feel okay. My next purchase was an airhawk. I can't compare it to a freedom air, but the airhawk is good for my butt for multiple 8-10 hours days.

See if you can find someone locally who has one and borrow it for an afternoon, especially highway miles.

Default Watch out for leaks

I had an airhawk that i used on my Volusia (cruiser) about four years ago. It was perfect for about a year, then a leak developed right at the corner along the base of one of the cells. I tried everything to patch it because it was such a great pad but because of the location of the leak it was unpatchable.

In my personal opinion, airhawk seats are the best seatpads around UNTIL a leak forms that you cant patch.

YMMV

I also had an airhawk for my cruiser and they are very comfortable and durable. Unlucky to hole one! I can't believe how comfortable the vee stock seat is but I will try my old airhawk on long trips despite the concern over the extra height it will create. It's a fine balance as it is getting the feet to the ground and also making sure my head stays out of the buffetting.

I had very good results with a Beadrider on a previous bike (Burgman, sold) and have just moved it to my Wee. It gives good air circulation and a nice massaging effect as you move around on it. I was really surprised with how big a difference it made.

Some relevant discussion here: http://www.sport-touring.net/forums/...topic=26487.25 ... I noticed one guy had tried the Airhawk as well and liked the Beadrider better.

I have two of the Canadian Tire specials. If you watch, they go on sale occasionally for $10.

Has anyone tried the Alaska Leather covers, how do they compare to the other air/gel seats?
