I finished my first Iron Butt last night with my wee. I picked up my '06 wee last fall with only 2.7kmi on it. This past week was the first time I was really able to put some miles on and try to get accustomed to her before the ride. I added a 12v socket, Eastern Beaver 3 CS, symtec heated grips under grip puppies, Suzuki handguards and Givi crash bars (ebay special) for the ride. I will say the handguards were a life saver with all the rain we got, especially the last 3 hrs of the ride.
I was really impressed with the bike and had no complaints, other then of course the seat, which I tried to remedy with a piece of memory foam and gel insert. This is a great bike and I was able to easily keep up with all the big cruisers (GoldWings, Road Kings, Street Glides) no problem. I may have to go with some sort of cruise control though. I spotted a few other Stroms on the ride. I think the blue had NC plates and by the looks of the set up I'd say he has to be a StromTrooper. Real happy with the bike and I see why every raves about it. |

what was your route?
my first SS1k several years ago, 700 miles was in the rain, on a nekid SV650, but I had a small fly screen (kept the wind off my chest) and handguards from a klr, heated grips and vest were a lifesaver. I was comfortable, but only cause I had the right gear.

The entire route was it VA. It started in Chantilly, went south to Virginia Beach, west to Bristol (Tennesee border), and back to Chantilly. It was a good ride with nice scenery in the western part when you could see it.

The Vista Cruise Universal cruise control works well for me. On straightish highway stretches, I set it and forget it awhile. Every now and again I tweak it. Mine works and I've got the grip puppies and aftermarket bars (same diameter - slightly different geometry). Bolts up in about 5 mins.

Seat- order a Sargent World Sport. Best price is probably from Sandhill, you enter your email address and they send you the price. Otherwise, pay more from Sargent directly, but get a 30-day satisfaction guarantee with it. That's how I did it. http://www.sandhillspowersports.com/...suzukivtrom_08 Sargent- http://www.sargentcycle.com/suzwsvstrom.htm In addition to the Univ. Vista Cruise already mentioned, order a Kuryakyn Universal Throttle Boss, most shops should be able to get one for you, amazingly helpful little chunk of rubber to wrap around your right grip, allowing relaxation of your gripping action to keep your hand free of stress. http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/...s-p-17643.html
