I have a WEE, stock.
After 2 hours of riding, my right sholder upper back becomes very painful. So much that i had to pull over and lay on the ground for a while. While my wife stands over me, saying "my Burgman dosent make my back hurt" I am trying to figure out what is causing this? the handle bar placement, or is it me. My other bike, with no problem. If it is the handle bars, what would one do to fix this? I am new to the WEE and looking to make a 4 state trek this summer. I really need to get this look at before i head out. thanks V. |

I have an 07 Wee and had a similar issue on a long trip through Idaho last summer. Met a guy in a parking lot who suggested getting a Crampbuster. This is a piece of plastic that goes on the throttle grip -- makes it super easy to maintain twist on the throttle without the stress and fatigue on your wrist/arm/shoulder.
crampbuster.com Very cheap and quick shipping -- even to Canada! I highly recommend them. Probably the cheapest, most effective farkle out there. |

I was not having pain like you are describing when I switched to the ProTaper ATV Mid bars but I really like my middies. Much wider with less pullback than the stockers. These aluminum bars are a little pricey compared to some of the steel aftermarket bars but they are strong and don't seem to vibrate.
Risers may also be an option to investigate.

My back and hands used to really bother me, I got the grip puppies and they helped but still was not quite right. One day while riding I realized that I was stretching to reach the handgrips so I slid forward in the saddle and WOW, instant relief. So you might try changing positions in the saddle, cheap and easy.

I have the same problem which becomes bad after 2 hours on the bike. I thought it was wind/helmet stress on the neck muscles, but last year I made a trip from Ohio down to the Smokies. I did not have side cases and took a large daypack for luggage. The backpack was on me - shoulder straps only, no waist strap - That made me sit closer to the bars and I did not feel the shoulder pain until much later in the ride.

It's almost certainly a posture/tension/position issue. If it's the bars, what people seem to do most often is install risers. I have the 1" up and back type (can't remember what brand). I also have the foam grip (puppies, only another brand) and a throttle boss. All of those things allow me to straighten my back and relax my arms, shoulders and hands.
I also have the Suzuki Gel seat, which is flatter and more supportive. For my particular anatomy, this allows my lower back to remain vertical rather than slouch, which in turn makes the rest of my posture better. I'm sure other aftermarket seats do that too, but the stock one didn't (for me). Keep working on it. Once you get the comfort issues resolved, it's a great long distance bike.

For me, it was the knife between the shoulder blades. Bar risers solved the problem. Higher bars are the other option.

Same problem, put risers (up and back) and some Tag metals handle bars. I measured the bars on my DR650 and got as close to the sweep and rise as I could with this setup. The rake of the standard handlebars was also causing wrist problems with my right wrist. I still bought a rubber cramp buster too.
http://www.motorcycleproducts.org/ I still get some pain after 4 hours but I've been in some bad cage wrecks, I think it's inherent.
