Dempster Highway Adventure Motorcycle Research

I found this interesting, especially since I am headed that way in 3 weeks.

http://www.tc.gov.yk.ca/pdf/ISU_Demp...earch_2015.pdf

One particularly funny part was when they mentioned the most popular motorcycles going up, BMW was #1, followed by Kawasaki KLR and then by the Suzuki Tenere line.

According to that report it's mostly old(er) rich(er) riders percentage wise. That's the BMW demographic.

Needing an ADV bike to get there? Not this guy:

Thought this pic was funny, one of these is not like the others!

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Cor 13:13

His bike would have needed a full repaint after that trip. Way too many shiny things to scratch up. haha.

Amazing he made it though, that takes determination.

Someone could dig a tunnel to China with a teaspoon too if they wanted.

One guy I know bought a G650 BMW to ride up there. I believe he did it on his KLT BMW land barge.
After looking at some of the Victory boy's pictures and story I have to admit. I really do NOT want to experience Alaska to and fro on a motorcycle.
I'll sit in my den and look at the heroic pictures you real ADV guys post and smoke a cigar and drink my Scotch. Unworthy coward that I am!
My collective total miles on motorcycles is probably close to 600K miles in rain and sun ans hot and cold and snow. I'm into a bit less adventure now.

In my experience the Dalton was easier. My son on his KLR and me on the V-strom 4 years ago (hard to believe it's been that long already); don't need to stinkin' GS for the trip! Matter of fact, and I do honestly feel this way, I think they're overkill.

Ride every day, it's good for you.
