This would probably be better handled by a poll so I added one.

I voted yes, of course I had to after my confessed interest in them. Perhaps if it is not deemed interesting enough for a forum/section at least a thread to discuss/post pics etc. Great idea to me.:laugh2:

Coops.

some folk drag a trailer behind their strom, so maybe have a section for "encumbered" Stroms. those stroms assisting the movement of a non powered vehicle lol.

3rd and 4th wheelers ;)

I'd love to be able to travel with my Husky. The handling characteristics of a sidecar however completely defeat the joy of cornering!

How would that be better than driving a Miata with doggie in the passenger seat?
I voted Yes but I just don't get the sidecar thing from a riding perspective.
If I really wanted to bring the dog along in a sidecar, I'd buy an older Goldwing with one already installed. I've seen quite a few of them. Now worries about a tip over with the heavy Wing. :laugh2:

I voted yes. I bought a Ural cT instead of putting a hack on the DL though. Thought long and hard about it but didn't want to ruin my perfectly setup DL650 if I didn't like the end result or hacking in general. I went so far as to upgrade the calipers on my Wee in anticipation of a hack before I bought the Ural. I do love the upgraded calipers.

Don't care... for me, once you go beyond 2 wheels something like a Miata convertible is more appealing.

Absolutely

Been jonesing for a Ural, but just can't justify something that will take so much time wrenching. I'd probably take my hacked VEE lots of places I'd never take my convertible sportscar (like up gravel roads). Be especially interesting if there was a "quick disconnect" option that would allow putting the hack on or off in ten minutes or less. Maybe convert trailer electric brakes to work on the hack wheel to simplify the connection.

Gravel roads are where it's at for me. I'm sure my Ural has more hours on gravel than surfaced roads.
I understand the "quick disconnect" idea sounds great but there are too many changes needed to make a 'normal' bike into a happy tug.
re the sidecar brake, with a car tire on the pusher I don't feel a great need for one on the hack side. The Ural, however, needs all the help it can get.

Interested!
I have thought of Hacking my 1000 to haul Grandson and My Dad on Adventures.

Please bear in mind the poll is not about whether you are interested in side cars but whether an entire forum is the best way to discuss that interest. Is that needed or can the interests be handled by threads in existing forums?

I have been researching a lot lately trying to wrap my head around building a sidecar for my 2014 DL1000. I don't think it would hurt to add a section for it in the forum, worst case is that it doesn't see a lot of traffic. That being said, the existing info seems to be scattered all over. And almost nothing for the newer bikes.
