I discovered a simple way to convert any riding glove for use with smart phone touch screens.
Nitrile gloves will, for some reason allow you to use touch screens. Simply cut a finger off a Nitrile glove and roll it onto one or more fingers of your glove(s). If you want you can also glue a small piece of the Nitrile onto the glove.
Nitrile gloves are sold in every drug store. Also a box of Nitrile gloves at Harbor Freight are dirt cheap. If you want to get more mileage out of a box of gloves, after cutting off the finger from the glove, cut that piece into several bands that can be slipped over your riding glove.
Enjoy using your smart phone now without having to take your riding gloves off to access your apps.
Ok, I'm a skeptic by nature so I have to ask: Have you actually done this and made it work? I have seen where a nitrile or latex glove over the bare hand will work, but I'm skeptical that it will work over a winter motorcycle glove.
Edit: Tried it. Works with nitrile glove on my bare hand but does not work with nitrile over any of my gloves. Can you give more details of what you are using?
My wife tried it today but while the nitrile worked on her bare hand, it didn't work on a gloved hand. Note, however, that she wasn't wearing leather gloves.
I'll give it a try with my motorcycling gloves and report back......
...... Nope. It didn't work for me with my AlpineStar gloves.
Its my understanding that smart phones use a heat screen....That's why your phone wont respond when your fingers are freezing cold or if the screen gets too hot....Mine works fine with thin leather gloves on if its not too cold outside.....Or if I put my gloved hand next to my engine for a few seconds to warm it up...Thick winter gloves are not an option
I just keep a pen/stylus clipped to my sleeve or tank bag. More precise than my finger anyway, and solves the glove issue entirely. $.99 at the dollar store.
Man, I learn something new everyday....the stylus idea is brilliant! I feel like an idiot for not thinking about that on my own!
Thank you for the idea!
