Not sure about original but it's feasible on K60 Scouts.
Guy in Vermont I was chatting with got 22,000 miles on his. I put 22,000 km on mine before I sold it and there was lots of tread left and it passed the road worthy easily.
thanks this is helpfull, i have already ordered my replacement bridgestone battlewings, so not sure i will get as lucky with these, trailwings did well for me
Down to the wear bars and beyond I assume? All the Georgia roads I have ridden on are super twisty and surface is like sandpaper, I would no doubt go through tires like crazy. I typically go 6k max on a rear and maybe 8 to 9 on a front, I just cannot for the life of me fathom the mileage "safely" that some of you claim. :surprise:
23,000 miles??!!? Mileage varies from person to person, but I always seem to get 13K miles front and rear on Battlewings or Trail Attacks. I check my pressure regularly, 33/36 F/R.

stock tires on my v2 I got 8500 miles, front is currently at 12000 miles and is getting close to the wear bars. I am hoping it will last the rest of the year though and over winter I'll order something new
How much difference does rider weight / load make? I'm 215 and like to ride with gusto (and have steel skid plate, engine guards, top box, etc.).
If someone was 100 lbs, rode like a grandma and had a stripped down bike? could that make a significant difference between the tire life of the two?
Currently trying a Full Bore M40 rear (clone of Shinko 705), and it's nearing the wear bars already after 3500 miles. Trying a TKC70 front, but only have about 1K on it now, so it's a bit early to tell.
9200 miles on rear tire. probably couldve got 11k on the front. he must ride in cold climates or have the smoothest damn roads and gentle on the throttle.
climate is cold here, the freeways i use are in good shape for the most part, i cruise between 70-80 on freeways (for the most part), i may go in next weekend to get my new battlewings just rolled over 24K, rear is getting close to being replaced
It has been super hot here and the roads basically suck. I run 36r and 33f and I check them often. I guess I'm just hard on tires. Always have been I suppose, my sport bike highest mileage was about 3500.
I've never gotten over 10k on any tire, on any motorcycle. If I got 20k on a tire, it would have to be the hardest, most ill-handling touring tire ever made.
I can't even fathom. Guess I ride like an idiot, or my roads aren't made of marshmallows.
I don't see how, thats insanely high miles for a rear. OEM Battlewings last me about 5,000. I ride with a really old and slow fellow in Florida sometimes and he could get 12K, but he is really easy on the bike and doesn't lean or do much of anything. My bikes I'm familiar with are the KTM 950, FJR1300, ST1100, ST1300, DR650, KLR650, DL1000 etc. and they all get between 5,000 and 6,000 miles on a rear if its a Tourance or a PR3. If I went really easy on my DR650 I could see 6500 till smooth on a 35 hp bike using a 705, but that was no fun.
Not doubting your mileage claim at all, but my rear tire always looks like that within 20% or less of that accumulation. My tires always have more evenly spread wear across the entire tread where yours show a bias to heavier wear down the middle.
Maybe the folks getting astronomical tire mileage are commuters who spend most of their seat time at steady cruising speeds. Maybe those of us who can't fathom that reality spend most of our time adjusting speed with the brakes and gearbox.
Scrubbing off speed also scrubs off rubber. Squirting out of turns shortens the distance between curves as well as tire changes. That's all the sense I can make of it anyway.
a large amount of my driving is freeways, fortunately the freeway in San Francisco have some curves and elevation changes, my weekend riding is totally select country roads like Marin Headlands (highly recommend that ride to all) I have a video on this https://youtu.be/r2eS1hYW-rwl
based on all the reading I did here, I went for the battlewings for my new tires
The only way I could get 23,000 miles out of a set of Battlewings would be if my bike was some sort of Japanese mecha and could transform into a hovercraft for most of the time I was riding.
except for when I was on the darkside, the most I got from a rear tire on my Vee was 7500, more often only 6500, I tried a variety of tires, none went beyond that benchmark
