WEE2 XT that is.......oh yeah. Dealer just got her in 4 days ago, and was the first ever on the floor. Saw her 2 days ago and knew she must be mine, so I did the deal today. I am blown away with this bike, so smooth and feels like a dang toy compared to my trusty ole 1000. I have been biding my time and been thinking about this much lately, and Suzuki finally built the Strom I have really wanted. The new Vee2 was my front runner, but after the Maine trip last week and saw just how easily and effortlessly my bud Jeff did on his 2012 Wee2 compared to us boys on the ole 1000's.....that made my decision. Of course the spoke wheels and beak were quite the attraction as well, plus the Motech panniers and bars. Have the oem stand on order, should be here in a few days. So my 1000 will be going up on the market likely soon, it is nicely loaded and would make somebody a great bike. It did fabulous on the trip by the way, I averaged mid 40's the entire time. So without further a do.....here is Dany!!!

Ha! You are now officially an old coot who doesn't put power ahead of other considerations. I think you'll love it.

Thanks Pat, yeah I have always been quite fond of the 650's for what there were and were not. The latest rendition is even better, now I have to learn about and get very familiar with a whole new platform! Me hanging out in the Weenie section, who would have thought? LOL

Nice!
Maybe Suzuki will see the light some and come out with, oh maybe a 750 to replace both!
That would be a good compromise, and if they did it right it would be no heavier than the 650!

I loved my 2000 SV650, of course it was quite a bit lighter than the VStrom. I'd probably still have it if my son hadn't have crashed it 3 times:furious:

You will still miss the ole Vee once in a while. The power they have is nice to play with for sure.

But if you could keep both bikes, the Vee would see less and less and less miles till you realized you don't really even miss it!

Now if Suzuki would put spokes on the new Vee2, that might me what it takes to make me go back to a 1000.......

Yeah you are likely right Terry, but the difference in weight between the 2 and how they carry it is pretty dramatic. The Vee2 really does feel Wee like, but it is still much heavier. Yeah I too am hoping they put spokes on the new Vee, would make perfect sense to do so. I am loving this bike so far, it is much quicker than I thought it would be. I am for sure varying the RPM's "plenty" before the first early oil change, I was amazed how smooth and effortless 90 MPH was on the slab. :grin2:

Congratulations Brian!

It's the old story: If you can't beat them (the 650's with your 1000!) then join them! :)

(Okay all you Old DL1000 owners this is good natured teasing. Don't be surprised if I have a 2014+ DL1000 next year.)

I would actually go for a 650 version if they made it, but also love what I hear about the new 1000 engine. I love the trip computer, suspension and the traction control stuff on the Vee2. Fuel mileage (actually range!) could potentially be a negative issue for my commute as I fill up every second day as it is. (100 mile round trip. I like to fill at the same station and in cold weather mileage drops so much that I could see it being dicey.)

Congratulations!

And here I am wondering if the 1K would be a better high-speed commuter. As speeds on my morning commute creep up (in the cage I set cruise control at 75 and still have to use the accelerator) I'm seeing more and more oil consumption.

In any case, enjoy your new Wee!

Yeah I too thought I would go that route, but I have been debating a 650 for a while now. And the new Vee2 is a bit more of everything, plus I like to do gravel and hardpack a fair bit and the 650 is much much better for that. Better MPG and love those spoke wheels, plus the Motech luggage makes the 650 look the way it should, the 1000 is just too pretty and street worthy IMHO. :fineprint:

that's a great looking bike! I really like my V2 but I regret not going with the 650 XT instead! The insurance costs and gas mileage being the main reason!

Congratulations! That is a beautiful bike and I think you are going to enjoy it more every day you ride it.

I was pulling my hair out over whether to pony up for a Wee XT or try to find a good deal on a leftover ADV or even shop comparable bikes and then farkle them. I ended up going with a used '12 ADV because it was the right bike at the right time from a dealer I really wanted to do business with (All Seasons in Wooster, since you are a fellow Buckeye). I couldn't justify spending an extra $4k+ for wire-spoked wheels, a beak, and that new bike smell...but believe me, I really wanted to! The XT is what I wish the ADV had been all along.
