Default Seahorse cases on pl532

Well here is the way that I attached Seahorse 720 cases to the Givi racks. The cases have locking closures on them and the cases can be locked to the racks (they are keyed alike).

The aluminum is permenantly mounted to the cases. Siliconed so that it is airtight and threadlocked underneath nylon locknuts.

These are the brackets that stay on the bike. Not too offensive.

A little Canadian ingenuity - Yes, that is hockey tape on the Givi's. I didn't want the two metals rubbing together.

On the bike.

They are still a little rough. I have to get the dremel out and clean up some of those cuts. Here is a closer look at the mounting portion on the bike.

The lock.

Well there it is. Its been on for a couple of weeks now with no problems (through some rain and they didn't leak). Have to give credit where credit is due, I got the notion from uzidzit's thread on the way he attached his seahorse cases.

Nice work, stevestrom. The 720's look sized just about perfect (to my eye) for the wee. Would there have been enough room on the side of the cases for a 90 degree angle to hold the key lock, instead of the flat strip across the top? Either way, looks pretty efficient to me. Love the reflective tape across the sides.

When you ordered the Seahorses, were you able to get both cases keyed alike? I'm supposing you ordered the case-to-rack locks from someplace like a McMaster Carr? Thanks for sharing.

"Would there have been enough room on the side of the cases for a 90 degree angle to hold the key lock, instead of the flat strip across the top?"

Never mind this question; I think I see now that would cause some interference with the aluminum Givi bracket piece, unless an angle piece was cut with sort of an odd offset.

I've got a PL532 rack hanging up in the garage that has me itching to do what you did here .

The cases come with either a plastic lock (all the same key), or metel locks which can be ordered to be keyed alike. I ordered my cases from www.fuertecases.com - they were excellent to deal with and shipping was quick.

The locks and hardware to attach the cases were purchased at Home Depot. For the locks I just dug through the pile until I found ones that were keyed alike. The Aluminum pieces were purchased from a metal supply and fabrication shop. All together hardware and locks came to roughly $35.
