I think I'm in!!!
It sounds great! I don't really care for the dirt clinic, but the slab rides look GREAT!
Anyone in the Los Angeles area going too????
I would like to ride there in some kind of group!

Default 2010 Gathering - Dirt Rides and Clinic

We are planning a hands on clinic for you dirt riders. The clinic will Saturday am followed by a pm ride. Billy Aller will hold the clinic close to town and then take off for the ride.
When need input as to what you want in the hands on clinic switch backs, rocks, sand or what. Billy is a premier off roader on his Strom and you will learn alot from him.
His plans are to lead a more difficult ride on Sunday and cover alot of ground.
We have several rides planned for everyday, spirited and just casual.
Need input, how many for Friday?
Motel is firm and the rate is firm @$114.00 + tax. Get you the info soon.
See you in June,
V Mike

Unfortunately, I will have to head home on Sunday morning, so I will miss the "Billy Ride". I also think I will pass on the dirt clinic on Saturday, as that is my day to do a full day in the mountains to the south.

Soooooo.....if anyone has some decent off-road experience and wants to tackle some fun, high mountain trail on Saturday....I will lead a ride down in the San Juans. I am sort of finished, completely abusing my Strom, so the dirt will be about a "7" ride on a scale of 1-10 (I sort of don't need to prove anything to myself anymore....just want to enjoy riding beautiful country). If you want to know what a 10 is.....look at my pic at the top left of my post. In that mile of mud and rock....I finish off a clutch.

So my Saturday ride, really won't be too bad....but you really need a little dirt experience handling a beast off-road and your bike should have the farkles to protect it if you drop it. (By the way, I have dropped my bike offroad....twice and the Givi Bars did their job to a "T".)

I have Distinza's (SP) on my Strom and minimal extra farkles so far, so extreme dirt isn't in the works for me. I am looking at sticking to service roads and fire roads in the foreseeable future, so just stuff that keeps me ready to take these roads (occasional rut, embedded rocks, mud pit, sandy spot, etc.).

Thanks for putting together a dirt clinic!

And have I mentioned I am IN IN IN IN!!! ?

Default Count Me In

I have made it to all the western rallies since getting my 2005 VStrom. No reason to stop now. I am all about pavement. At least I will not have to go through WY (ticket last time). I would bring my DRZ if I was to do dirt.

I have room in my room for up to three more riders.
If you are interested in bunking up, PM me.
