Default liv2ryd plate

There are probably hundreds of good explanations for doing so, but I sure had to shake my head and wonder about the trailer I saw on the freeway last week with a plate that read LIV2RYD (all the evidence indicated there was a Harley inside). Perhaps it should have been LIV2TRLR or LIV2TOW?

I swear the following is true;

On my way back to Annapolis from Columbia SC last month I noticed that roughly 90-95% of all the Harleys that I saw on the highway were being carried either on trailers or in the back of pickup trucks. I thought this to be rather interesting in the most had "in state" plates in relation to where i saw them. Was there a sale on Harleys that somehow in my rush to get out and actually ride a 1000 miles I had missed? Was there some huge recall effort underway by The Motor Company? Well, it was either in northern NC or southern Va that I pulled off 95 and into a gas station to fill up my thirsty Vee. I had earlier passed a guy actually riding his Harley and in he came a few minutes later to a pump on the other side of the station.

This thing was a beast of a bike. Probably hadn't seen water other then rain in five years...and the owner looked the same. You know, the "blood and guts" rider type. The kind of a guy who wouldn't think twice about pissin in his tank if he thought it would burn. He was a hardcore guy with a long beard and like me, plenty of grey so I walked over to shoot the sh*t. I asked him why so many of his "bros" weren't actually riding their bikes....I laughed out loud at his reply. He looked me dead in the eye and said......."pussies and wanna be's".

We parted ways and he threw an old leg over his bike and kicked it to life with one stomp...bike ran like crap at idle but he cracked it open and pulled out.....to that place he belonged.....on the highway.

I passed him again about a half hour later since I had taken time to eat and piss when I had stopped. He raised a fist in common defiance, bike still running a bit off but he was smiling as off we rode to our respective places.....but he was real, and had less use then we do for the pretenders.....no matter what they ride.

Oh, his tag read "Lst1"

Naw, he was pretty cool...he knew what riding was about....reminded me of a guy that used to work for me out in the field in the 80's..guy was named Chainsaw...but that's another story for another time.
