There's a Breakfast Club thing going on once a month over on the West Side of town, surely you've seen the posts that mention it. My challenge is that I live on the East Side of town (Sandy, to be precise). It takes me less time to get to Government Camp than to Lloyd Center. A ride all the way across town -- ick! -- for breakfast doesn't sound that appealing to me, despite the fun to be had once I arrived. In that situation, it's the journey that would suck, not the destination, something anathema to motorcycle riding in general (What the hell does 'anathema' mean, anyway?)

Surely I'm not the only Strom'er east of the Willamette. Anyone interested in a breakfast club type thing -- I nominate calling it "Strom and Eggs" -- somewhere in east Multnomah county or even Clackamas county somewhere? Gresham? Clackamas? Carver Cafe in Carver would be a great place to meet because it's so close to some great routes for Sunday rides. Just an idea.

Who's in?

Man, I wish I had more time to ride on Saturdays. Even though I'm on the west side, an east side breakfast group would be a great reason to go for a ride. And get me closer to some of the great riding on that side of town. One of these days...

What does anathema mean, you asked?

getting together! West side location works for most but always open to suggestions.

Even though the traffic ain't that bad in the morning it is a long hump from Sandy.

Good Point, Stevewz:
Ya know what might work, right now we are doing every other Saturday. How bout rotating the meetings between East and West? That way we'll have one in each location each month. Some will go to both, others will go to the closest. There's an Elmer's near the Pony Soldier Best Western on Sandy that's not hard to get to. The Vancouver guys would like that. Just an idea.

We started the Breakfast club primarily to take over Berserkers home away from home on Saturdays. He was always there anyway and it gave us an excuse to get out and ride. We discussed getting together at other places abd we agreed to do that but we haven't yet. With the weather I was occasionally the only bike there, but I digress.
It is about getting together to share our passion for riding, to share ideas, ride routes, farkle stuff and to plan trips like the Reno ride we are currently discussing.
Got an idea for a spot to try? Lets hear it.
As the weather gets better and better plan on these getting further and further from anywhere any of us call home. That is kind of the point :-D

Well, for me the trek is up from Salem. I'll make any excuse to ride. The further the better.

I like the idea of alternating the Breakfast Club's location, east and west. For the east side, I'd suggest either somewhere in Gateway so it's close to I-84 and I-205 (for those coming from outside areas) or Oregon City or Clackamas. If we went with Oregon City, there's a restaurant called "Bisquits" I've been to that's been pretty good. Parking's not that great because it's in the back; I like to park right in front and ogle my bike from my table. ;-)

Anyone else have ideas for an east side location? Heidi's in Gresham has good breakfasts and plenty of room, plus it's fairly easy to find. There's also the Village Inn in Fairview (a block away from Action Motor Sports, where I bought my V-Strom, coincidentally).
