This should be a good place to plan the trip. Anyone going to stay in Sonoma? or somewhere else along 395? or play it by ear?

Gibbage--Should be fun. You want to camp or hotel? The rooms are 79 bucks/night at the Boomtown. I like camping but that means hauling more stuff(tent, sleeping bag and whatever else to camp with). So I kinda like the idea of a warm room with a sorta comfy bed. If you don't snore too loud, we could share a room(TWO beds of course), that would cut the lodging in half.

Im up for sharing a room! From what I can tell, I dont score. My wife has yet to wake me up and chew me out about it. The funny thing is, she does, a lot! I wake her up, tell her she is snoring, and he tells me im full of sht and goes back to snoring. I ask her "OK, if your asleep, how would to KNOW your NOW snoring?". Lol. She wont be joining us. ;)
Going half sounds like a good idea. You going for all 4 days?

Welllll, I don't know:mrgreen:
Yep, all 4 days sounds good to me. I plan on taking Mon off too, so just in case we decide to take our time on the return trip. That and I don't know if I'm up to 500+ rides, no iron butt anymore:D

Very funny(but true)
You guys don't have to worry about me borrowing trunk space as I broke down and bought my own;) I think it's a little smaller than Gibbages' but for 40 bucks plus tax & shipping it will do very well and it holds my Mac Book Pro 15", just need a little padding.

Looks like its from the same people who made my trunk. A little smaller, but not much. I think my trunk is 40L and yours is 30L. Good for 2 days of cloths I think. How about a backpack? I found a great motorcycle backpack for 25$ that has built in bungie and cover to turn it into a tail bag.

Two words for packing small. Space Bag! Get one. LOL. I love those things. They reduce the volume of your clothes, and keep 'em drt if it rains.

Space Bag!
Yea, but where do you carry the vacuum cleaner to suck them down small again after you open them:confused:
Besides, I'm gonna wear the same clothes the whole trip, just don't follow me;) ;)

They have travel bags that you squeeze the air out of. You don't need a vacuum.

I'm riding up from So Cal, probably early fri morning. Last year we (peter) and I rode up 395 till near Tahoe then went into the sierras for a couple of passes, around south lake tahoe to Reno. On the way back we went over Sonora Pass excellent route.

How long will this ride be? Hours wise.

Got my trunk mounted, and took Gibbages' recommendation and made sure it was back far enough to clear the seat. Scounged up some 1/4 x 1 1/4 aluminum and made the spacers and new mounting plates with 1/4-20 threads for ease of mounting. Used some loctite to hold everything in place and we're good to go:mrgreen:

Speaking of making things, here's a bracket to attach a helmet lock I hammered out the other day:cool:
I also made some delrin spacers for my stock windshield, haven't tried it out yet but maybe it will cut the wind noise a little.

I was wondering if any of you guys have or would be interested in doing bike-2-bike intercom for the trip?

We can also use something like that on our monthy ride. The headset and radio's seam rather cheap and the cost can be split on the radio set.

So which one are you thinking abut, the under 100 buck:mrgreen: or the over 220 bucks:( one. I'm kinda cheap so the lower the better.

Im thinkin the 100$ one. Im also cheap. I would like to try and find a headset that not only will take the 2 way, but also my MP3 player. Im sure we can find some cheap radio's with a few mile range at Wal-Mart.

OK I'm in. I picked up my new K6 today. I am supposed to get released from my boot next week. I'm sure my foot will be kind of noodly at first, but I'll have time to bulk up by May. Tell me more about the monthly ride.

See you picked the best color:mrgreen:
The monthly ride just started with the Feb.3 ride and we hope to go every month on a different route. It's a just for fun ride with not much in the way of a schedule and the route could change during the ride but will go in the general direction that was originally planned:-D
The more the merrier and glad to see your back on two wheels:-D
Gibbage-Your the techy of the bunch, so check out the two way communications a little more and come up with some recommendations:mrgreen: I looked at Wally World but couldn't figure out what would be the best option and couldn't find any headset-mic offerings, checked out Circuit City also with the same results, so do your best to educate an Old Phart:mrgreen:

Already on it. I need to see if the headsets need any spacifics to be compatible. For a motorcycle headset, we cant go cheap. Its looking like 60$ for the headset, and about 30$ for a pair of radio's. Here is the interesting part. The radio's come in pairs, but only 1 charger. So there goes my plan to split cost. I will check things out and get back with yall. I also just got a GPS system for about 200$ and will give a review of that later.
