Is it me or is the Katana 750 generally being overlooked as a great ride at a very decent price?

I have read quite a few reviews and they are all very favorable towards the bike. The riders that own them seem to really like them and say that they are comfortable, plenty of power and have great handling. Yet, I very rarely see one on the road.

Does anyone have any experience with the KATANA?

Never owned one but one made the rounds at my work. It was bought used and eventually owned by 5 different people before it was wrecked and would have cost too much to repair. Everyone loved it but they all eventually sold it to get the latest and greatest thing. Eventually that latest and greatest thing got sold off too.

They have to be pretty tough because I saw that thing get used and abused and I don't think the oil ever got changed............

It used to be everything was either 350cc, 500cc or 750cc. Now the 750 is an unusual size. 600cc, 1000cc and humongous are the popular sizes.

I owned a 2000 Katana 750 for 2 years. It was my first bike and I loved it. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced, more-than-capable sport tourer. It is often overlooked and I'm not quite sure why (maybe the outdated look?). I sold mine to get a ZX-9R because I thought I needed "more power" and regretted it. But everything happens for a reason because now I love my V-Strom!

The only thing wrong with a Katana is that it has to compete with a VFR. I bought a Katana 750 for my daughter to ride and it seemed like a great motorcycle until I bought a VFR that one of my friends was going to trade in. They were both 750s but the VFR had a much stronger motor, was smoother, and had far superior suspension. Yes, the VFR's MSRP was almost $2000 more than the Katana but it was worth it. If I had to choose between a new Katana or a used VFR (any model) in good condition, it would be the VFR every time.

does it even have an engine? who can tell, double dipped shrink wrapped in swoopy ABS. If I saw a new VFR and a Kat parked outside a bar I'd think Batman and Robin were inside having a drink.I'm just being mean trying to be funny but I think the looks are both kinda odd (and I ride a strom?) but they're both top notch machines with well deserved fans. A friend of mine thinks our Stroms look like big cartoon mosquitoes from the front. That or pokeman.
