Those dogs scare me, I'm sure they are great dogs but you have to admit they do look rather intimidating. I will say I've never been around Pit Bulls.

On the other end of the scale is my Golden.

On the other end of the scale is my Golden.
Some can look intimidating when they have their ears cropped. Pits are powerful dogs, but trained properly they can be some of the most amazing dogs to own. I've had more bad experiences with Labs then I have with Pits. I've owned two of them along with many other types of dogs growing up, and I have to say that Pits are one of the easiest dogs to train. They truly are an amazing breed with a bad rap thanks to bad people.

My kids have a Pit....Bennie and he is a piece of work. His biggest joy is when my wife (allergic to all animals) brings him a new stuffed toy. The big doof thinks he is gone to doggie heaven and carries it with him and sleeps with it.
We were doing some research on Pit's and their reputation, unfortunately, is terribly tainted by the scoundrels of this planet. The Pit is among the LOWEST aggression scores to human, according to the Kennel Association. It is, however, near the highest toward other Dogs. The pit rates very highly in loyalty and protection qualities. It was the first dog to receive the Medal of Honor (I think I read that was in WWI or II).
The 'Lil Rascals dog (remember his name?) was a Pit.
When I first met Bennie, I must admit he was the first dog that spooked me. I have had confrontations over the years with some pretty aggressive dogs, but none were ever so compact and muscular as a pit. There just isn't anything to grab and wrestle to the ground that is out of range of the "pointy end". That said, their hind quarters are quite week, which is is bulldog trait. Bennie is a great soccer player (uses his feet to control the ball, and then, if you are winning, bites it and dares you to kick it loose), he plays with a 16 lb bowling ball (soccer style again) then climbs walnut trees to get his bowling ball if it is put out of reach.
As much of an ugly, slobbering, smelly old guy as he is, I get as much joy out of playing tug of war with Bennie as I do playing catch with the grandkids (well, they are still a bit young). He is a real hoot.
Her name? Hazmat! Spend a minute of a day around her and our reasoning becomes clear as crystal! :bom_laugh4:
