Hi All-
I am wanting to buy a new Wee this Spring and am wondering if anyone can recommend a good dealer in the southern CT or Westchester county NY area. Also, for a new rider (began last summer on an old Honda cx500 custom v-twin!), is ABS that important/worth the extra $$? (salesman has recently said "not necessary", but it was when I was drooling over a sale-priced 2006 in the showroom ). Thanks for the help! ;)

Hi Doc,
I purchased mine from CT Power and Sports:

The manager, Brian and his main man Joel are great guys. You get a great price and the personal touch. If you go there, tell them that Bruce Silver/Blue Wee, 2006, sent you in for a good deal.

Get the ABS. I don't know what the brakes were like on your old Honda, but mine had a single disk front and drum rear. Becoming acquainted with the modern stoppers on the Vsrom was a hard lesson for me. Locked the front up and went down -- twice in the first month. ABS would have prevented both get-offs. If you don't get the ABS, get good at using both brakes.

Thanks, Tom! More than a few people have recommended ABS as a lifesaver (except in the dirt)- I'm all for that!
Cheers,

Hi Doc,
Just curious. Did you ever make it CT Power and Sport?

Hi Bruce-
I haven't been able to get up there yet- Hopefully this week or next. (After reading that some folks are having to wait months to get a bike, I did put down a refundable deposit for an '07 w/ABS, at a dealer very close to my office- just in case I can't find a better deal in the next few weeks...). I'll let you know what happens.
All best,
Doc
These people did OK for me. I called them up in Dec. for a left-over '06 DL1000. Asked what it was worth for me to go look, Gary said he'd take a grand off the top and then he threw in a center stand and installation for nothing. [no it wasn't already on the bike] Phone calls are easy!

Hello Docwhyte,
I live in Stamford, Ct. The sales manager at Stamford Motorsports commutes to work on a V-Strom. I have found him very helpful in contrasting the performance and handling of the V-Strom to its logical competitors. Look for the fellow with the pony tail in the office just to the left of the entrance door.
Cheers,
Bruce
