Anyone have any comments about these two? I have been riding on and off for the last 20 years, but don't have a bike at the moment. These two seem to "fit" me best at the moment; similar specs in many ways.

One very important fact is that the bike needs to be comfortable for my wife on the pillion. She is moderately keen, but has very little padding in the rear end department. I'm tall (6'1), she's short (5'3).

I intend to use it for my short daily commute, but also for weekend breaks and hopefully some longer travel eventually.

Many thanks,

Malcolm

We can't get the Transalp in Canada, but I rode it when visiting Italy. For pillion riding, the V-Strom is definitely more comfortable. It also has more power, which comes in handy with a passenger. Transalp is a very good bike though. V-Strom is just better.
