I have been seeing more and more people from Ohio joining the site. I'd like to know how many would be interested in an Ohio ride come spring. Maybe if there is enough interest, we could get an Ohio club together and do monthly rides. I am definitely in.

So how buried are you guys? I've got at least 16-18 inches of the white stuff up here. My poor Strom hasn't seen the light of day since the day I brought it home from the dealership.

My first ride once it's warm enough will be right back to the dealership to get the updated ECM. Then I'll be good to go.

Anyone have any thoughts where we should go riding? I'm up for anything, I just want to get some miles on my new toy!

In Urbana, we probably finally ended up with about 8-9 inches total. Much like you, I brought mine home from the dealership, rode an insanely cold 4.6 mile ride, and then its been nasty ever since. It has given me the opportun ity to do a bit of farkling though. Since bringing it home, I've put on:
1. Set of Givi E21's
2. Adventure motostuff trunk rack (I'm using some old no-name topcase I already had)
3. Handguards
4. Centerstand
5. Heated Grips
6. Dan Vesel Skid plate, oil cooler guard, and radiator guard.
Planning to order a Kaoko throttle lock and probably some givi crash bars next...

As far as where to ride, I guess it depends on whether everyone wants to do a pavement day or a dual sport day. This is my first dual sport-ish bike, so I don't know a lot of places to go for that. If everyone is up for a pavement day, there is a lot of good stuff in SE Ohio. One that poolbitc--.....I mean poolBOY and I do frequently is 555, which basically runs from Zanesville to Parkersburg, WV. There a lot of other good stuff around there too...

I guess aybe we need to see where all the Ohio folks are on the map and try to figure out a somewhat centralized meeting point. I'll try to look at a map and locate where everyone is later today if I get the chance....

Sounds great. I need to get some more farkles going myself, but I've just had a hard time justifying the expense with the bad weather and all. I'm about 25 miles south of Cleveland, just north of Medina off 71. Handyhiker's not far from me either. I'm game for anything, I've also never owned a dual-sport-ish bike of any kind before so I'm a noob to that type of riding as well.

Hey guys.

Although I just moved to Dallas from the Dayton area, I'll be making my way back up there quite a bit. So I'll be monitoring the Ohio area posts. So when someone from Dallas says "I'm interested", don't be surprised.

On another note -

Rich - I used to work in Urbana before I left Dayton in Nov. Did you just recently purchase your Strom?

I worked at Rittal. It's over on 55. But Urbana being what it is, I'm sure anyone familiar with the town knows where it is.

Yepper...used to be the old Drackett building....I've heard that their business has finally started picking up pretty well - Though their building on Upper Valley Pike is definitely NOT an indication of a busy business.....

The building in Springfield is empty and I believe they're trying to sell it, everyone is in Urbana now.

Poolboy - I know Carolyn, she was Inside Sales with me, but in a different group.

Didn't know if either of you might have worked there.

Take care.

When I got tired of yelling expletives in the shower every morning and left my last job, one of the guys they hired to take my place was from Rittal. His name is Jim Summerfield....You know him??

Got my '02 Vee home ( bought it from Eviltwin v2) and just finished getting all my new gear (some great deals at Iron Pony) and am waiting on a price quote for some new tires. I'm looking forward to getting out and enjoying the new ride. The weather seems to be breaking here in central Ohio but I'm waiting on the title from the bank so I can get the tags. My wife said she couldn't believe I haven't taken it down the road yet. I told her with my luck the State Patrol AND the County Sheriff would pick that time to visit my neck of the woods. I'll just wait. Hopefully not much longer though... I would love to get together with other Strom owners for a ride. It'll be a chance to compare notes and learn more about my new ride.

Count me in!

Thanks for letting me get it! I was lurking for quite awhile before making the plunge. I just finished going through it (changing oil, replacing grips, checking all the fluids, raising it back up to stock ride height, etc) and am eagerly awaiting some warm weather. I'm fighting the urge to start adding too much until I learn all about her. Besides EvilTwin did a pretty good job of adding the farkles. Right now a center stand is at the top of the list.

I look forward to meeting the Ohio Strommers!

The only thing I found wierd about that bike was the fact that it needed tires with only 4000 miles, but other than that it looked like a good deal. I finally settled on a new 05 that was at a dealership near me.

I know I've heard of centerburg, but I forget where it is. These Ohio rides should be great, there's a whole bunch of us popping up :D Anyone wanna step forward and organize something?

Are any of you Ohio folks headed to the Vstrom gathering in North Carolina on May 17th-20th? We're hitting the legendary Tail of the Dragon at Deal's Gap. There is a thread about it on the site here. Everyone is staying at the Iron Horse Lodge. I'm camping at the lodge. It's an East Coast gathering. Let me know if you're interested.

Poolbit*% and I will be going that way with some other friends that weekend. It just so happened that the V-Strom gathering is at the same time, so we'll probably run into a good number of you there....

Due to a number of physical problems I'm JUST able to continue riding at this time.

I went 55 miles on Tuesday. It was a welcome attitude adjustment.

My riding limit is a pain imposed round trip of around 75 miles. So....unless you fine Ohio V-Strom riders are coming to Perry County I doubt that I can participate in a group ride.

Nope....going to the Stromtrooper rally the last weekend of June. Shame on you for going to the "other" rally instead!;)

I will see about trying to organize an Ohio Strom ride. One of my very best friends has a really nice place near South eastern Ohio "Perry county". We could all probably camp at his place, and he and I could lead the ride all over gorgeous Eastern and Southeastern Ohio.

We have a fairly organized group of V-Strom riders in Florida and we've been riding together for a couple of years. We have rides every month and usually get anywhere from 12 to 25 riders. The end of March we're having a 3-day camping ride, and plan to hit about a half dozen Florida state parks. There's about 14 people doing the ride, and all but a couple are roughing it at the campgrounds. We have a great group of guys and gals, and we enjoy each others company. I know that once you start doing these rides in Ohio you'll have a ball. Some of the best folks ride V-Stroms.

I'll be in Ohio in June. Maybe I can hook up with someone to show me some of the great places to ride in your state.

PS - Let us know if you ever plan to visit Florida....we'd love to show you around our beautiful state (even if we don't have mountains)

Weather is supposed to be nice this weekend, you should be good to go. I'm hoping to get my K5 back from the dealership this weekend and get started on the 600 miles they want me to put on it before they'll swap out the ECM.

Allan, congrats on the new bike. It's a great bike and a lot of fun to install add-ons. I'm just east of Columbus and would love to get a few "peoples" together now the weather is turning nicer.

I just got back from registering my bike so am up for a ride. I had promised myself I would work on a wood shed I'm building so I can heat my house next year....but I will probably take a ride, a man has to consider his priorities!

I am trying to put together a "late Summer" rally/ride. But...until then, nobody be shy about giving dates of when you would like to try and hook up. I know that it isn't a "ride" but bike night will be starting up soon at Quaker Steak and Lube, and it would be cool to have a good showing. There needs to be more cool bikes show up, other than sportbikes and cruisers.

I'm in for a SE Ahia trip. Marietta is a nice ride. My wife and I went down there last year for a MC show. Coming home was on a twisty for an hour and she got tired of it so we diverted to 60. My only requirement: it has to be warm! Last Wednesday I rode to Cincinnati and back in the wind and cold. Thank God I made it. I could not feel my hands and the wind and trucks were whipping me like a rag doll. It was not one of my best decisions. :???:

If you're going new, your best bet is to probably just shoot up 75 to Toledo and go to Honda East....Best advertised prices in the region....I've bought two bikes from them, and they've been good to work with thus far. You can find them on cycletrader.com also..........
