Thanks to another member of this board I bought my V-Strom last Thursday. Got my first ticket on Tuesday (the first dang day I actually rode it any distance). :x

Oh well - I hope that bad karma is out the way.

I've always had sports bike before - but never particularly extreme. The last was a VFR-750 about 6 years ago - sweet bike but long distances were a bit of a pain with the forward leaning stance (unless driven at speed, of course!)

The V-Strom is like nothing I've ridden before and I love it. When I borrowed my friend's bike to try it out I came up behind a Miata and I dwarfed it (that's never happened before!). I also enjoyed the twisty dirt roads I came upon for my maiden ride yesterday - loose stuff was always a pain with the sports.

Looking forward to putting in some major miles. My neighbor has now ridden around all the great lakes (not at the same time!) - that sounds like a good goal to me...

It's great to be back on two wheels! :D [/i]

Hmm bad karma still apparent. My Oxford one piece rain suit was in it's bag strapped to the back seat.

At least that's where I thought it was

It turns out that it had blown back and was trapped slap bang in front of the mufflers. When I pulled into work I found two burnt/melted holes in the suit.

Ack!

Hey how's it going! I know you're going to love your Strom...I'm down in Allen Park and I manage to get to Ann Arbor almost every weekend...I like sitting outside Felix's or the Irish Pub and watch the people go by. I usually take my cage...not my Strom....but if I see you zip by I'll certainly wave!

Be safe!

Dave

Hi UPStrom - perhaps we can do a ride sometime? Also my neighbor (a HD owner) tells me that Wednesday night is an "unofficial" bike night in A2 - bikes start turning up about 6pm on main st and saving parking spaces for more bikes.

I was busy yesterday but I hope to check it out next week...
