HI people !
Just got a new black 650 this afternoon. Grand total of 7 miles on it so far - bit of a test ride from the dealers (which was nice of them as there was no guarantee I'd actually buy it!) and then back home.
First impressions ? Well, I bought it didn't I? I have been doing some research (on here and other sites) beforehand so it wasn't a 'out of the blue' decision but it is still quite a change for me - previous bike was a Yamaha YZF 600 Thundercat and a FZR 600 before that (and I borrowed the wife's SV650s more recently).
Feels very, very different. To everything I've ever ridden. Ever. That's not a bad thing, it's just that it'll take some getting used to. Plenty of oportunity for that though as I commute about 50 miles a day or so...and that's the main reason for the big change: I'm not a youngster anymore, I do have back/neck problems and I do put in a fair few miles (European tour holidays included) - a sports bike realy doesn't make sense for me any more.
I also have to admit to liking the 'big trailie' thing too - BMW GS's etc. Ace bikes...just too damned dear. Then along comes the 650 V-Strom new for this year.
Did I really have a choice?
