Ya'll know those cool little survey cards that you get from Suzuki, that lets you Bitch and Gripe about "Zuk" "the dealer" and issues you may be having? Well....I filled one out about a month ago, and figured that it was just a big waste of my freakin time. I complained about the rough running at low RPM's, and how crappy the service dept was at my stealership.

I get a call 2day from the actual store manager, and he wants to know "ALL" of my concerns about both the 1000 Strom and their service dept. So.........needless to say, he asked the WRONG GUY!!!:p Actually I was quite nice and professional, and explained some of the issues in detail, that occurs with a number of the 1000's. I also explained how the service mngr "lied" to me about them having a Yosh box, as well as feeding me the bull of "that is the nature of this engine"! He listened to all my griping and said, "he fired that mngr, cause they had allot of complaints about him", as well as other issues. He also went into GREAT detail, about how he knows that this is a common problem, and has had several meetings with the local Zuk rep. He said that Suzuki and them are VERY supportive, about resolving any other issues that did and still does occur. He said that it is not the nature of that engine to run that way, but is mostly due to the strict emission specs for that engine, which has really hurt it! Suzuki has tried to pass emissions AND get by with running good. They were not 100% successful. He did not dispute anything that I talked to him about, and I actually think he was surprised with my knowledge of the the bike.

He also laid down a bomb.....which cleary states that the 1000 is GONE after 07!!!:( Allot of us were worried that this was gonna happen, he pretty much confirmed it!!!! Not sure if they will redo it, but I think there is doubts.

They want my bike so that they can check the TPS adjustment, "not TBS" and he said that they might even go ahead and swap my ECM. I am not gonna do it, unless they put the new box on the Yosh too!

I was blown away with this call today, and I have a new found respect for my dealer and Suzuki for stepping up.

Later,

BB

You sure about that? He didn't hesitate with his answer!;) The bike hasn't sold well, and the engine has been emission choked to DEATH. The future is in the hands of the 650, or if they redo the big 1000....which is doubtful IMHO. Makes me sad though...hopefully you are right, and I am wrong.

I love my 1000, and will be keeping it for a GOOD LONG WHILE.

It's not suprising considering the problems with the big twins and emissions. Looks like the Wee-nies are gonna win based on the Big Twins inability to meet the European emissions standards. I'll ride mine till the parts are gone.

A moment of silence is required here. The death knell has been rung for the Zuki 1K!

Its like Leonidas and the 300 Spartans @ Thermopylae. Go tell Suzuki, stranger passing by
that here, With love of the 1K, we lie.

''I was blown away with this call today, and I have a new found respect for my dealer and Suzuki for stepping up.'' From Big B's post.

Wonder if your dealer can shed some light on the inability of Suzuki to front up with parts like Stromettes fuel pump?

I've gotta give a +1 to your dealer. He doesn't make 'em--he just sells and fixes 'em--and it speaks well of him that he's at least willing to listen to you. We have a couple of dealers within 20 minutes of my place; one listens to his customers and the other doesn't. Guess which one I frequent?

After living through the rumors surrounding the demise of the GM F-Body (Camaro and Firebird) for years and then the actual happenings of the platform going away, many were wailing in the streets and calling for a full pardon from the powers that be.

I didn't understand all the angst. I had one ....

this can't be the whole reason. How hard is it to double-plug and add a catalytic converter? No, there's more to it than that.

I'll be riding the Big Ugly until she dies and save money for the next bike......maybe something expensive like a K1200R.

They could and would make this motor comply if the bike was higher priced. But if it was priced as high as the Beemer, the GS is the logical choice. Suzuki makes out better selling more bikes that are cheaper to build. No real competition in that displacement class at that cost. Same goes for the SV1000. Why pump more money into that motor when everyone is buying Gixxers. If they were to keep pumping out the SV1000, the DL may stand a chance. Betcha that one is gone too.

Oh well, c'est la vie! We'll ride em til they can no longer turn a wheel.
