Anybody done any Iron Butt rides on their Vee? Wondering how it did. I usually try to do at least one a year. Been doing them on stock Harleys and a Concours in the past. Looking forward to next season's attempt,,,,,either a Bun Burner Gold or a 2000/2. Not sure which yet. Oh, and just to throw in one more little challenge to them, I've done all but one of mine 2up with my wife. And she actually ENJOYS them. Brags about them all the time at work. Gotta love it!

Several have done it, on this forum the easiest to find would be Stromette's report. She did hers from Arizona in between her trips this summer, IIRC. She had no problems with the Strom, the communication gear not so much.

With over 53,000 miles in less than 1 year of Strom ownership I feel comfortable saying that the Strom will be fine. (insert wink here). If you want to actually read my goofy report from my BBG1500+ (my longest ride ever in 24hrs of 1631 miles) then click: HERE (http://www.seizethejourney.com/rideinfo/BBG1500.asp)

Best wishes with your journey.

Stromette, you ROCK girl!

It was SO refreshing not to read another of those "100mph, popping little white pills, blurred vision" lies one sees so often about our extreme rides. Congratulations.

Sure, it's not easy. But that's what sets us apart. It's also not as described above.

Maybe I should do a ride report on my Lower Lakes Saddle Sore (1204 miles in 23 hours)?

I did a 1,235 Saddle Sore in July on my DLK4 . . . no problems. The seating position (arms, knees, feet & back) is very similar to my BMW R100RT.

Did a Saddlesore from McCall Idaho to Sparks Nevada and back Aug. 28 of this year (my first Iron Butt ride). The DL650K6 had 1103 miles on it when I left. This was a good shake down for the Alaska Adventure next summer... but I stray from the subject!! Only change that I made was a Sargent seat. 17 hours and 10 minutes of enjoyable riding!! No noise form barking exhaust, vibration free, super riding position, I can't wait to do another 1K ride on the Wee.

Sorry, got into the 1000 forum.. Hope I didn't offend anyone by ranting about the 650!
I'll go back to my room (650) forum..
Still enjoyed the ride!
