Anybody tried to get one on this side of the planet? Anybody interested in bulk ordering? I am keen to get one. I sent them an e-mail and I am waiting for a response
Did I spell it correctly?

Hey Jack,
I got one about a month ago now - just ordered it straight off the website - from memory it was about $105 AU after shipping. Arrived in under a week. Might have been a lucky shipping though?

I fitted one about 2 months ago, and what a difference. Although not perfect, it is much quieter than standard and no buffetting.

I just ordered a madstad bracket :)
Has any body ordered a taller screen to go with the bracket. I am thinking of an eagle screen made in Australia: as per e-mail below
Gedday John
We make a Standard for $130 (made from 3mm material) (see attached sketch to see what we can do)
Windlip for $140
Touring for $150 and now
Summer screen for $120.
That's for any colour Tint or Clear that you like although Light Tint often looks the best.
Delivery within Australia can be by Post for $12 or Overnight Airbag for $16.50. The larger screen shave to go by Post and cost $16.
Ordering can be online via email and payment can be made by Credit Card or Direct Deposit.
Credit Card payment attracts a 2% surcharge though.
Please note that this quote will remain current for 14 days.
Thanks for your enquiry.
John

Gday Ballarat Jack,
It would be great if you could keep us posted on how you go with the screen choice. Service, thoughts on good and bad points of new screen.
I have just done a 2380km ride, and the wind noise was irritating. Maybe a touring style screen would help me out next time????
Cheers
Chris

Just fitted my new madstad today. It was a piece of piss to fit and seemed up to the task. 1st impression was that it made things a lot smoother[ 1/2 way up and 1/2 way back] I have a bit of experimenting to do I guess. Hope you have no probs too Jack and I'll be keen to see how you go with the new screen!

Got it 2 days ago, fitted it yesterday. Seems a bit better, but with strong winds at the moment it is a bit hard to tell. I am going to Melbourne tomorrow and I intend to visit the dealer and ask about ordering a Givi screen if they have new stock without the black strip. With swirling winds I think the stock screen is just not big enough to do what I want.
Also I have bought a lambskin seat cover. I am an old softy.

The black strip probably won't be an issue with the Madstad. I installed a Givi first and the strip was bugging me. With the Madstad, I mounted the Givi in the lowest position (I'm 5-10) and tilted the screen all the way back. Now I never notice the strip. If you keep the Givi more upright, the strip would still be an issue, but then why install a Madstad?

Ordered a GIVI last Friday after asking if new stock has the black strip. The sales person rang their suplier and checked and said it will not have the black strip. No current stocks and due in mid Jan 07. Patience till then.

After this post by Matt (Lighting Strom) I ordered my madstad tonight. I will be going to Perth in January and check out the eagle screens then if the standard screen is still no good with the madstad.
Another Happy Givi Windshield Owner
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just thought I'd let everyone know that I recently bought a Givi windshield and I'm very happy with it. Buffeting is now completely gone.
I originally bought the Madstad bracket about 2 months ago and with the stock windshield it reduced most of the buffeting. But I just couldn't find a position where the bracket solved the problem completely. So I started looking at alternative windshields. I narrowed my list down to the Givi, MRA Vario Touring and the Windstrom Manta. After reading many posts in these forums I decided to go for the Givi as most people are happy with the Givi and it was the cheapest.
I placed an order from Adventure Moto Stuff and I was surprised when it arrived in my office just a little over a week after placing the order. That's good considering I'm on the other side of the world (in Sydney, Australia) and it was sent via USPS. It's also the new Givi screen which doesn't have the black edging and has a slightly different shape.
It took less than 5 minutes to take off the old screen and screw on the new one. Unfortunately, the first ride after fitting the new screen was not the best weather. It was blowing a gale (gusts up to 80 knots) and I was almost blown into another lane while crossing the Anzac Bridge in Sydney. There was a serious cross wind and at first I thought the new screen might be to blame, but then I saw other motorcyclists also struggling with the wind.
The next day I had a chance to try the screen without the wind blowing. After some minor adjustments with the Madstad I think I've found a good position and there is absolutely no buffeting. I've got the Madstad mounted in the middle position and the screen is about a third of the way from the bottom and almost raked fully back. I still have clear vision over the top of the screen (I'm 6'0").
So I'm happy with both the screen and the excellent service from amotostuff.com If you're in Australia and looking to get a Givi, don't bother with the local distributors. They gave me a 6 week time for their stock to arrive (I don't know where from). Instead I ordered from US and even with the pricey shipping it turns out to be about the same price, especially if you have other items on your order.

Good news Pilbaralad! Any chance you could tell us the price and exact screen no? I have decided that the std screen is never going to be good and although the madstad did improve things, your report is very encouraging.
I also had some trouble getting information on the bracket. One night about two weeks ago i resent the email and by chance must have caught the guy at his computer.
I ordered the bracket and it arrived in about a week by express post.
I just checked the account and the total cost in $Aus was $134.91.
I have installed the brackets and they seem to be pretty good. Unfortunately due to a big family weekend, i have not been able to manage a prper test yet. That will come this weekend.

Murf

Hi LAV 750,
Unfortunately the new Givi screen uses the same model number as the old Givi screen (D260ST). I ordered from here:
http://www.amotostuff.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=D260ST&Category_Code=dl650_body_wind
Total price including shipping was about A$195 which I believe is a little cheaper than what most retailers sell it for in Australia. I ordered it in early November and it arrived a week and one day later.
I've found that the new Givi screen works well with the Madstad. I've found that it has almost cured buffeting on my bike. I still get a very small amount at times but I think this is due to cross winds as I notice it when driving across a large bridge.

I redrilled my lower holes to move the bottom of the windscreen closer to the fairing when its laid all the way back

Cool! I now have a Givi for my........? Waiting for my new V! Should be here 2 weeks or so. Screen =$149NZ. Good price! I have engine bars coming too for$189 but they are sold to me on the condition that they have no warranty! They have effectively taken them off the market because of ongoing probs with welds cracking.:???:

What brand of engine bars are these???

Givi bars R-D. Sounds like I may need to let them crack, then pull them off and gussett them. Reason I want engine bars is that seems to be the normal thing to mount a sump guard to. Reason I need a sump guard is......I won't bore you with that story!

After a good 300+ trip and riding around familiar territory I think the Givi & madstad are well worth the $ and effort. The howling rush is gone unless I put my head enough to the side. Be interesting to see any benefits if it ever rains.
A side effect is the mirrors will not stay where I put them. They turn in and down. The wind has to go somewhere.
The right hand side has lost the plastic surround near the swivel. They are a known weakness.
