I've been curious about the following... related to performance under various conditions... There is a spot in my early morning commute where I descend a 1.5 mile grade, probably about 300 ft of elevation decline, at about 45 miles per hour. At the bottom of the hill is a stoplight (that is always red when I arrive.) When I take off from that stop light (left turn) my bike accelerates soooooooo smoothly in both 1st and 2nd... why is it so consistent (and exceptional) at that location? Sounds like a hummingbird and scoots like a scalded monkey.

Are you getting down near sea level where the air is denser ??

Could it be that your medication is kicking in??

Seriously though, how far into your ride? Could it be that the engine is finally warmed up? What about later on, will it still run as smooth or does it go back to its weak and lumpy old self?

Riding downhill, probably into denser air, always cooler because the road Ts right at a Lake. A thin mist usually fills the air as just south of the lake is a large wetland. Its probably the density, humidity and temperature combined.
Just got my bike back from its scheduled 4000 mile service and now it purrrrrs ALL THE TIME!
