Anyone heading to Daytona for Biketoberfest? I'm thinking to go over on Friday for the demo rides at the Speedway. Not sure though, because I'm doing the Coast to Coast ride the weekend before and doing events two weekends in a row is a real tough sell at my house.

I'll probably be up there all of the days. I'm just 15 miles away in New Smyrna Beach. Let me know when and where and we can meet up for a beverage or 3. I really want to see if Twi$%@# Thr(&&)$'s Eric is going to be there. Charlie Pope is going to be with his son at the Titan display. Stay in touch.
We are thinking about the coast to coast thing, but it means going over to Tarpon Springs on Friday nite. Not sure yet.
Looks like I'll be off work during that time frame. I'll probably Demo ride 3 or 4 bikes and take in the bike races.
Name the time and place for a meet and greet.
Cheers!
I'm gonna be in Crystal River Friday on a company retreat. I plan on riding over to Daytona from there and spending the night. Play around and leave Sat afternoon.
Does that jive with anyone?

Rod, when will you be in CR? I was going to Daytona but have to take the wife for her annual check up Friday & Saturday in Jacksonville.
We are trying to get this changed but if not we must take it.
Jim, I don't think Alan will be in Daytona at the Titan display. After reading the above, I might not even make it over there myself.

Charlie, we'll be at Plantation Wed at about 11 AM and they cut us loose Fri about 1 PM. There's a window Thu PM where you play golf or go manatee huntin'. I may be able to sneak out but I won't know till I get there. Cell is 813-495-7759. If nothing else, I'd love to see what's landed at the dealership.
Give me a holler when you know your schedule.

Guys if you are wanting to do demo rides, better be at the demo tent EARLY, usually by 9:00AM or even before. BMW ride are not at speedway, but at the stealership. The other majors will most likel;y be at the speedway. Just my $.02 worth. CYA!!!
Jim, what would you suggest doing on Saturday? I'm not interested in rubbing chrome and leather or dropping shots of Jack with the posers but I would like to see what's worth seeing or better yet ride around. Where will the major mfrs be? Is there a place where I could see a Schuberth or Momo helmet?

Rod,
Best bet for finding major mfg's would be at the Speedway. Have not yet seen listing of who will be there, but I'd start there and see. The other place might be the Sunshine Mall in South Daytona on Ridgewood (US1). Don't go downtown to Beach street cuz that is all cheap leather and worse chrome. I'll be up in the area on Thursday and see if I can find those two vendors. Will you have web access?
Have you ridden the 'Loop"? some nice riding up on the north side of the area. Give me a shout if you want.

Jim, Charlie..thanks for the phone numbers. I'll put them in my celly. We have this three day company thing where they try to strip us of free time and internet access. They do allow cell phone calls to deal with the pissed off customers
I'll be leaving CR on Friday headed for the 'Fest. Hope to see all you guys.

How about meeting at the Speedway say, !:00 PM at the main gate to the inside of the track? That time will give JeanMarc time to get up to Daytona. Anyone else interested? Let me know what you think?????

We are going to want to get away from the Speedway for a lunch together cuz of all of the posers that show up and clog the streets and establishments. OOps, I'll get off of my soap box.

Just a though::::::::::::::::
maybe the back parking lot at Hooters on The North side of the road across from the track. Everybody knows where Hooters is.

Thats where a few of us met last year
JRShaw

Hooter's back parking lot will work as well. I was just thinking of if you were perusing the vendors, the track side would be easier. If you are just riding in, then either side is okay. I don't care either way. If Hooters worked well last year, then lets make it Hooter's at 1:00 PM. Sound ok to all?

Hello everyone...Haven't had the chance to hook up with any V-Stomers yet but would like to soon. So....I would like to extend a invite to anyone interested to meet at Biscuit's and Gravy in Port Orange on Saturday morning at 9:00AM for breakfast.
The Concours Owners Group (great bunch of guys) meets there every year on this day for breakfast and good conversation. If you decide to show up I think you will find a lot of synergies between the two group and meet some nice riders.....as well as the only V-Strommer in their group.
Hope to see you there.
Damn, Charlie, here I was in CR with an afternoon free yesterday thinking you were at the 'Fest  :D Rode Ozello Trail a couple times. That's a nice ride.
I was thinking about going to Daytone early Sat AM to see the new bikes and that's about it. Worth the trouble? Did anyone ride the new FRJ?
See ya Nov 4

Welcome to the Florida group Tampa Tom. If we were not getting out of the craziness that is Boketoberfest on Saturdy, I would take you up on your offer for breakfast on Saturday. Port Orange is just a hop skip and jump up the road from me. I think you are correct that the Stroms and Concours groups would get along fine. Had an '88 Connie before getting into a Voyager, then others , then the Strom. Have a great time and hope to see you on the 4th.

Hey Tampa Tom, you're not the only V-Strommer in the group. :) I've been a member since '97. Rode the DL to the chili feed Friday night, and my wife and daughter went to the breakfast this morning. Jim, it looks like we have a little in common. I have owned among others, a '97 Concours and an '86 Voyager. Currently own a R1150RT along with the DL :D
Me and Gene went over Sat AM. I was highly impressed. The group of vendors they had were fantastic. Especially, Givi, Yamaha and Buell.
Drove past the HD dealer in Orlando twice. It looked like there were having an event bigger than the State Fair. Suzuki didn't even feature a V Strom that I saw but they did have some for the demo rides. Strange. Nobody ever has anything negative to say about the 650.

I made it out Friday morning and did demo rides, then I met my Dad in Ormond and spent the afternoon at Destination Daytona in Ormond Beach (my parents live just down the street). Rod, how'd you get to sit on the new Concours? When I was there, they had a guy keeping people off the bike. :(
I was pleasantly surprised by the Buell Firebolt. The ergo's are a bit on the cramped side, but it has one sweet motor (I rode the 1200 cc flavor). Doesn't sound like a Harley the way it's tuned, more like an old British sportscar. For all it's innovations I didn't think the chassis was too special, but then we weren't riding at a sufficient pace to really test it. If I were in the market for a sportbike, the Firebolt would probably be near the top of my short list.
The Kawasaki COPS didn't care who sat on the new Concours Sat AM  It looked a lot like the FJR except the mirrors were lower like the Honda ST (which I prefer).
Little did I know that we were there early enough to get in some demo rides but by the time I figured that out all of my riding gear was stuffed in my bike and it was getting hot. I would have loved to try the new FJR, a Gold Wing and the M109R for some reason. I really think the M109R is a neat lookin ride. Maybe I'd like to try one of the Buells but they seem so scronched up for some reason.
Next year, I plan not to have a company sales meeting and get out there on Thu-Fri.

Yes, the Firebolt is a tiny bike. I'm not a big guy (5'9" on a good day), and even I found it to be a bit small. If I were going to be putting my money down, I'd want to try a Lightning first. The two bikes are mechanically identical, the difference being the Lightning has lower footpegs, higher handlebars, and a different seat. There's also the Lightining Long which is the same bike with a stretched frame, and the Ulysses, but I already have a big DS.

Sent most of the day down at the BMW dealer doing demo rides. Rode the K1200GT, R1200ST, and R1200S. All too cramped foe me. Rode the R1200GSA and it was a nice ride. I guess the Strom has molded me to only liking tall bikes.
