Hey All,
I'm curious to know who's riding the big Stroms? The only thing I enjoy more than the casual nod or low hand from fellow cyclist out on the road is the enthusiastic WAVE I get from fellow Strommers. How about posting photos of yourselves WITH YOUR BIKES and a quick description of who you are and what you do? I know there are threads like this elsewhere on the site but not exclusive to the 1000.
See ya,
G

Point well taken. I thought about it when I posted. Figured I was bold enough to use my own photo as an avatar... Will get out and shoot a photo of my Strom (and me) this weekend to post. Love what you've done to your bike. Really given it an identity. The skull and cross bones isn't my thing exactly but it is an impressive setup. Has me thinking about debadging and destickering my own bike. Will post additional photos if/when I do.

Well, here's a pic of Stromboli and I on one of our bi-monthly Blue Ridge Parkway trips. I'm fully loaded with bags and top box, this was a full 4 day trip where I followed my band to a couple of gigs in upstate SC, then peeled off Sunday to meet a riding buddy at Caesar's Head State Park (the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains) for 2 more days of riding.

THis shot was taken first thing in the morning, I am about to eat breakfast at 3000 feet! 8)

Heh. I have absolutely NO idea what kind of box that is...

It came with the bike when I bought it used. It has a simple, yet effective 2 rail mounting system, and it looks pretty darn good, IMO. There is no brand name on it, the original owner bought it at the same dealership when he bought the bike. It's big and roomy, though!

No foot dragging here. Learned my lesson early. Shortly after I got my first bike I had my toe catch as I was going very slowly with my feet off the pegs. Toe caught, foot pivoted back and my heel caught under the exhaust. Hurt like hell when the rear of the bike rotated around my right foot. No crash, no broken bones, just a sore foot and a lesson learned.

Do you have any idea how many cows I waved at during my ride out West?

At first my wife thought I was nuts, then she joined in and waved (for a day or so), then she got fed up...and knew I was nuts. I bet I waved at more than 5,000 cows this summer. I'm oozing karma.

Hey GGRJR,

What kind of mounting hardware do you have with those Givi 21L sidebags? Is that the Givi or the SW-Motech? Also, how do you like the 21's? I've got the E41's but find them somewhat large. I'm looking into the 21's but don't want to go from too big to too small.

Thanks,

MIke.

I am using teh GIVI Mounts. I was concerned about the size of teh 21s, but have been very happy with them. They are actually about the same size as the Cortech soft bags I use on the VFR. The combination of the 21s and the V46 hold everything I have needed on two road trips so far. The 21s also make it easy for a passenger to get on and off.

Thanks! I think I'll get a pair. I keep rubbing the big bags on the pole next to the gas pump. I keep forgetting they are so wide, and consequently my bags are all dinged up. Of course that make them look seasoned :? No shiny stuff for the Hard Core biker :D

I had the 21's on my FZ1 combined with a E52 topcase. They were great for trips, unobtrusive, clean looking and could swallow a bunch of light gear. After reading both Strom sites for about a week straight concerning hard luggage, I can get my Strom into the same setup for about $540.00 to my door..

And its nice to see big guys riding a Strom. I'm glad I'm not alone!

Hey bobo,

How do you like the bead seat cover? I used one over the stock 650 seat I have on my 1000. It worked well for me on my ride (most of the way) across Canada this summer. Heck, I bought a car seat cover for $9.99 and got 3 motorcycle size pieces out of it. Way cheaper than a Corbin.

the followig is a blatantly plagerize'd statement & completely true !

[size=3] "I pledge allegience to the V, and I celebrate that the mighty steed is a true thoroughbred, and all true thoroughbreds are top heavy, burp, fart, chudder and make noise while busting to run free and fast. The only flicking a thoroughbred need do is wisk wee flies off it's arse . I am thankful that gas is cheap, and that I am of sufficient means, and deficient of common sense, that I am able to acquire said steed without justification. All hail the V. I just have one set of wheels, It is not that hard to mount and dismount the tires.

I went on a long slab ride this summer and wanted my tires to last, so I ran with the street tread.

Most of the time I am rolling on the TKCS, I always am looking for dirt routes to and fro.
