I am hoping to get a good showing of dual sport/adventure bikes (VStroms since that's what I ride!) at The first annual Adam Mercer Memorial Ride "A Celebration of Life and the Love of Riding" in Jackson, OH on October 14th, 2006.
Registration ($15.00 per bike) will be 10:30-11:45AM at The Corner Pub in Jackson and the ride will not hit any four lane roads. We will be taking Route 93 South to Lake Vesuvius in Ironton (40 miles) where food and beverages will be provided along with a chance to get to know each other. The ride will continue from Lake Vesuvius to twisty Route 141 (30 miles) to just-as-twisty Route 233 (15 miles) back to Route 93 for a few miles (12) and then back to The Corner Pub in Jackson.
This route will take you through the heart of Southern Ohio and introduces you to Wayne National Forest and all sorts of secondary roads shooting off in all directions that can be noted and returned to later for some challenging dirt, hill, and adventure riding.
All proceeds will go to The Adam Mercer Memorial College Fund. NOTE: Adam was killed on Sept. 17th 2006 when his four wheeler tipped on a designated trail in a freak accident and punctured his lung during the spill. He loved riding his motorcycle, four wheeler, and dirt bikes and would love nothing more to have people with all makes of bikes show up in his honor.
If anyone would like GPS cooridinates to The Corner Pub please let me know and I'll try to get back to you with them. Feel free to ask questions about this and let's show the cruiser bikes that we can assemble a large group as well!!

Just a reminder that this will be next Saturday and that the trees are starting to turn colors here in Southern Ohio. They should be in full color by next weekend.

Registration is 10:45-11:45AM...This will be a fun ride for you or you and a companion...I would suggest lodging at The Comfort Inn, The Red Roof Inn, or the The Days Inn in Jackson, OH (zip code: 45640) or you could camp at Lake Vesuvius at the halfway point where we'll be eating, as it's amongst Wayne Nat'l Forest or you could stay at The Ashland Plaza Hotel in Ashland, KY, which is ten miles from Lake Vesuvius, on the Ohio River across from Ironton..The hotels in Jackson are suggested because they are at the beginning and end of the ride..Hope to see some VStroms there..the T-shirts we've made have a Harley on one side and lo' and behold a VStrom on the other!
