Saw you yesterday as I was getting on to I-4 at Sand Lake Road. You were headed west on Sand Lake Road.

Today the V-Strom that was spotted was ... MINE.
A fellow walked all the way across the parking lot to watch me load some bulky purchases onto the rear seat and luggage rack.
He reported that his main ride is an old BMW, and it currently has a faulty bearing somewhere in its transmission. He also has a KLR650. It seems he has two bikes to look after instead of one V-Strom.
He said he goes out of his way to chat with V-Strom owners on the rare occasions when he sees one parked. Every Strom owner has reported great pleasure with the bike. I was no exception.
It seems that we, V-Strom owners in general, are the new Borg. Associating with us gets other riders assimilated. I replied that resistance was futile, and he said that he had been noticing its diminishing effect for some time.

Keith, I have noticed that too. Riders and nonriders are curious about our ugly bikes. Last summer I got tied up in a parking lot for half an hour with two different nonriders looking for their first bike. Quite entertaining.

Happens to me all the time too. Last summer I had stopped at the Starbucks at Robson/Thurlow where all the bikes hang out(was meeting a friend there and was the only bike there at the time) by the time we finished our coffee the street was full of bikes. As I was getting ready to leave, I had two people come up and start asking about the strom, totally ignoring all the other toys around. :)
I've also had people get out of their cars on the Albion ferry to come over and ask me about the bike, which is even more entertaining when I'm riding with my buddy with his beemer, and it gets ignored. I'm still trying to assimilate him and we do trade bikes from time to time, he says it's never going to happen, we'll see.... :)
